Deloitte Expands Partnership with Google Cloud to Address India’s AI Security Challenges

Deloitte strengthens its partnership with Google Cloud as a premier Managed Security Service Provider in India, enhancing AI-driven security for critical sectors amid rising cyber threats.

Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP has strengthened its security offerings in India through an expanded partnership with Google Cloud, establishing itself as a premier partner, reseller, and Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) for the cloud giant in the region. This initiative aims to address the pressing needs of Indian enterprises and public sector organizations grappling with an increasingly complex AI-driven threat landscape, stringent regulations, and widespread cybersecurity talent shortages.

At the heart of this alliance lies the objective of transforming Google Cloud’s AI-powered security stack into a managed service focusing on outcomes tailored to Indian regulatory frameworks. Deloitte contributes its extensive security advisory and implementation expertise while Google Cloud provides robust platforms for threat detection, response, and intelligence.

Through this partnership, Deloitte will assist clients in designing and operating modern Security Operations Centers (SOCs), migrating outdated security operations to the cloud, and adopting “security-as-a-service” models, alleviating the need for large in-house teams. The ultimate aim is to enhance threat detection and response capabilities while reducing the strain on already overburdened security operations.

A critical component of this collaboration is Google Security Operations, a cloud-native platform enabling security teams to ingest, analyze, and search vast amounts of security data. Deloitte intends to leverage this platform to deliver 24/7 managed detection and response (MDR), allowing organizations continuous monitoring without the necessity of maintaining a fully operational SOC. This approach promises quicker investigations, more consistent incident management, and fewer vulnerabilities within hybrid environments.

The partnership also focuses on national and critical infrastructure applications via Google Cloud Cybershield™, aimed at assisting governments and critical infrastructure providers in establishing cyber defense centers at state or national levels. For public sector players in India, this initiative is a pathway to enhance situational awareness and cyber intelligence across agencies and utilities that have typically operated in isolation.

Deloitte’s advisory capabilities will be pivotal in ensuring that deployments align with Indian regulations and sectoral mandates, including stipulations from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), and the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA), as well as compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) and global standards like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The intent is clear: technology implementations must proceed hand-in-hand with compliance and policy frameworks rather than being retrofitted later.

On the intelligence front, the partnership taps into Google Threat Intelligence, which consolidates insights from Mandiant, VirusTotal, and Google itself. Deloitte’s SOC teams will utilize this intelligence to actively seek out threats rather than merely responding to alerts triggered by known signatures or indicators of compromise.

As organizations in India increasingly connect operational technology (OT), the Internet of Things (IoT), and vital business systems, the ability to gain early visibility into emerging threats becomes a competitive advantage. By incorporating global threat intelligence into local contexts, the partnership aspires to provide Indian enterprises with an early warning system and a mechanism for prioritizing risks specific to their environments.

This collaboration is also a strategic response to India’s cybersecurity talent deficit. Rather than relying solely on specialized skills for complex query writing or rule correlation, the combined offering emphasizes leveraging AI and automation to streamline investigative processes. With advanced AI capabilities integrated into security operations, analysts can query security data using natural language, which reduces investigation times and lowers the entry barriers for less experienced staff.

Utilizing Google Threat Intelligence, Deloitte teams will monitor global threats and relay those insights back to client environments, facilitating a transition from a reactive to a more proactive security posture. The focus is on decreasing analyst burnout, consolidating tools, and maximizing value from existing investments while avoiding the addition of redundant dashboards.

While Deloitte and Google Cloud have collaborated on a global scale, this enhanced alliance is explicitly tailored for the Indian market. It targets heavily regulated and high-risk sectors, including banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), energy, resources and industrials (ERI), manufacturing, large conglomerates, and government and public sector organizations.

“In an era where digital trust is the currency of businesses, our alliance with Google Cloud marks a significant milestone for the Indian market,” stated Tarun Kaura, Partner at Deloitte India. “By merging Deloitte’s extensive industry knowledge and cybersecurity legacy with Google Cloud’s cutting-edge technology, we are constructing a resilient digital infrastructure for India. Our advisory layer will also ensure that Google Cloud’s security tools are implemented in compliance with Indian regulatory frameworks, simplifying adherence.”

Echoing this sentiment, Sandeep Patil, Head of Security Partners & Managed Services at Google Cloud for Asia Pacific and Japan, remarked, “Security is not an add-on; it is the foundation of all digital innovation. We are excited to deepen our collaboration with Deloitte India. As a Premier Partner and MSSP, Deloitte is well-positioned to operationalize our AI-first security platform for Indian enterprises. Together, we are committed to democratizing access to nation-state-grade security capabilities for organizations across the region.”

Jyoti Prakash, Head of Security Sales at Google Cloud in India, emphasized that the fusion of Google Cloud’s security capabilities with Deloitte’s implementation expertise is designed to “empower Indian organizations with the ability to detect, investigate, and respond to threats at the speed and scale of Google,” addressing both talent and workload challenges in the cybersecurity landscape.

At AIPressa, my work focuses on exploring the paradox of AI in cybersecurity: it's both our best defense and our greatest threat. I've closely followed how AI systems detect vulnerabilities in milliseconds while attackers simultaneously use them to create increasingly sophisticated malware. My approach: explaining technical complexities in an accessible way without losing the urgency of the topic. When I'm not researching the latest AI-driven threats, I'm probably testing security tools or reading about the next attack vector keeping CISOs awake at night.
