A US-based tech startup, Tiiny AI Inc, has officially entered the Guinness Book of Records for creating the world’s smallest mini personal computer. The device, named the Tiiny AI Pocket Lab, measures just 142.0 mm (5.59 in) in length, 80.0 mm (3.15 in) in width, and 25.3 mm (1 in) in height, making it comparable in size to a smartphone. The record was awarded on December 2, 2025.
The Tiiny AI Pocket Lab is notable not only for its diminutive size but also for being the first pocket-sized device capable of AI supercomputing. It can operate a large language model (LLM) with up to 120 billion parameters entirely on-device, eliminating the need for cloud connectivity, external servers, or Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). This feature positions the mini PC as a significant advancement in personal computing technology.
Designed with energy efficiency in mind, the AI Pocket Lab operates within a mere 65 watts of power. This stands in stark contrast to traditional GPU-based systems, which are often burdened by higher energy consumption. The startup claims that their device signifies a major shift in AI computing, promoting a model centered around personal, portable, and fully private intelligence, particularly in an era where cloud-based AI faces mounting scrutiny over sustainability and privacy concerns.
Tiiny AI has pinpointed an essential challenge within the current AI ecosystem: “the most striking bottleneck is not computing power, it is dependence on the cloud.” This statement reflects growing concerns about the sustainability and operational risks associated with cloud-based AI solutions, including high energy costs, large-scale outages, and complications related to long-context processing.
Elevating the standard for what compact computing can achieve, the Tiiny AI Pocket Lab offers a glimpse into the future of personal computing. As the demand for AI capabilities surges, the introduction of a device that prioritizes privacy and energy efficiency could reshape the landscape of how consumers and enterprises approach AI technology. With increasing scrutiny on the environmental impact of cloud computing, innovations like the Pocket Lab may pave the way for a new era of AI devices that operate independently, fostering both personal security and operational reliability.
