Noiseworks Audio, the creators of the DynAssist plug-in, have unveiled VoiceAssist, a new AI-assisted vocal and dialogue tool aimed at transforming the workflow of audio professionals. Set to launch on January 14, 2026, VoiceAssist promises to significantly streamline the voice cleanup process while allowing engineers to maintain control over the final audio output.
Designed to address the specific needs of sound engineers, VoiceAssist integrates six intelligent voice-focused processes within a single ARA-enabled environment. This streamlined approach not only speeds up vocal and dialogue editing but also offers a more cohesive workflow for users. The tool can be utilized directly within digital audio workstations (DAWs) or as a standalone application, allowing professionals to refine voice recordings efficiently.
VoiceAssist was developed with the feedback of leading mix engineers and post-production specialists, ensuring that its advanced processing capabilities—such as AI-driven denoising, dereverberation, and frequency repair—are tailored to real-world applications. This allows for effective noise removal while restoring essential vocal details, thereby enhancing the overall quality of recordings.
The plug-in features six processing sections tailored for specific audio challenges. The “Clean” section focuses on eliminating unwanted noise, while “Lowend” improves clarity through low-frequency recovery and flexible low-cut filtering. The “Gate” section employs intelligent voice-aware gating to avoid cutting off words or syllables. Meanwhile, “Dynamics” offers advanced volume riding and loudness matching, ensuring consistent vocal levels. For breath control, the “Breath” section features transparent breath detection, and “Sibilance” provides precise control over harsh consonants without dulling the voice’s tone.
VoiceAssist’s ARA integration provides immediate analysis of audio clips within compatible DAWs such as Pro Tools, Cubase, Nuendo, Studio One, and Reaper. This capability sets it apart from traditional voice cleanup tools, enabling audio engineers to assist the tool rather than be replaced by it. Each process can be independently adjusted, offering users customizable control and clear visual feedback as they edit.
The reception from early users has been overwhelmingly positive. Notable industry figures, including Grammy Award-winning mixers and producers, have lauded VoiceAssist for its efficacy. Rik Simpson, known for his work with Coldplay, remarked that the tool is “really bloody good,” emphasizing its transparent processing capabilities, particularly in de-essing and dynamic riding. Similarly, Darrell Thorp, who has worked with artists like Beck and the Foo Fighters, described VoiceAssist as a tool that “simply works,” noting that only minimal adjustments are needed to achieve clean vocal tracks.
Grammy-winning mixer Cameron Craig, whose portfolio includes work with Adele and Grace Jones, called VoiceAssist a consistent solution for transforming challenging recordings into polished tracks with minimal effort. The emphasis by these professionals on the tool’s user-friendly features underscores its potential to enhance audio production across various genres, including music, podcasts, and audiobooks.
Compatibility is extensive, with VoiceAssist supporting AU, VST, and AAX formats on both macOS and Windows platforms. Users can access licensing through iLok or the NoiseWorks licensing system. A fully functional trial version is also available, allowing potential users to explore its features before committing.
VoiceAssist will be offered at an introductory price of $199, a 33% discount from its regular price of $299, until February 3, 2025. Existing DynAssist users can benefit from a special upgrade price of $99 during this promotional period, a significant reduction from the standard upgrade cost of $149.
As the audio production landscape becomes increasingly competitive and fast-paced, tools like VoiceAssist are poised to play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and quality of vocal and dialogue editing. With AI continuing to evolve within the industry, the introduction of such innovative solutions highlights a growing trend toward integration of advanced technology in everyday audio production workflows.
