OpenAI Launches “Your Year with ChatGPT” Feature for Personalized Annual Reviews

OpenAI introduces “Your Year with ChatGPT,” a personalized annual review feature for users in select markets, enhancing engagement with tailored insights and awards.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT is set to introduce an annual review feature called “Your Year with ChatGPT,” mirroring the popular Spotify Wrapped. This new offering will be available to eligible users in select markets, including the United States, Canada, the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand. The rollout aims to enhance user engagement by providing a personalized annual summary of interactions with the chatbot.

At launch, the feature will be accessible to users on free, Plus, and Pro plans who have activated the “reference saved memories” and “reference chat history” options, and who meet a minimum threshold of conversation activity. Notably, Team, Enterprise, or Education accounts will not have access to this feature, which OpenAI has described as “lightweight, privacy-forward, and user-controlled.”

Similar to Spotify’s approach, “Your Year with ChatGPT” incorporates engaging graphics and tailored experiences. Users will receive awards based on their chatbot usage throughout the year. For example, a user who frequently employs the chatbot for problem-solving could receive the title of “Creative Debugger.” This gamified aspect is intended to encourage more interactive and varied usage of ChatGPT’s capabilities.

In addition to the awards, the feature generates a poem and an image summarizing the user’s year, focusing on their topics of interest. OpenAI has hinted at potential future expansions, including the adaptation of the service to incorporate adult content by 2026. While the year-end wrap-up will be prominently displayed on the ChatGPT app’s home screen, users will have the option to engage with it voluntarily rather than being automatically prompted.

The “Your Year with ChatGPT” feature will be available on both the web and mobile applications for iOS and Android. Users can also initiate the experience by directly prompting ChatGPT for their annual review. As AI technologies continue to evolve, features like this reflect a growing trend among consumer applications to offer users insights into their engagement patterns and experiences over time.
