Perplexity has launched “Computer,” a new AI tool that allows users to assign and manage tasks executed by a system coordinating multiple agents with different models. This tool, now available to Perplexity Max subscribers, is designed to create and execute entire workflows, functioning for extended periods, ranging from hours to months. Users can input specific outcomes, such as “plan and execute a local digital marketing campaign for my restaurant,” and the system will handle the rest.
Computer breaks down larger tasks into manageable subtasks, assigning them to various agents tailored to the requirements of each task. Perplexity has integrated a selection of powerful models to optimize performance; the core reasoning engine is built on Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.6, while other models include Gemini for in-depth research, Nano Banana for image generation, Veo 3.1 for video production, Grok for quick tasks, and ChatGPT 5.2 for long-context recall and extensive searches.
This cloud-based tool comes with prebuilt integrations, allowing it to operate in an isolated compute environment equipped with a real filesystem, browser, and curated tool integrations. Perplexity’s Computer aims to serve power users who previously managed multiple models to suit specific tasks, now streamlined under a single system.
Computer’s design incorporates enhanced security measures, setting it apart from similar tools like OpenClaw, which relied on large language models to function independently on local machines. The core processes of Perplexity Computer are executed in the cloud, mitigating risks associated with unverified plugins that plagued its predecessor, thus creating a more reliable and secure environment for users.
As AI technology continues to evolve, tools like Computer represent a significant step toward making complex workflows more accessible and manageable for users across various sectors. The ability to automate and streamline tasks through AI not only enhances productivity but also opens up new avenues for innovation in digital marketing and other industries.
