PM Modi to Launch AI Impact Summit with Global Leaders, 15,500 Registrations from 136 Countries

India’s AI Impact Summit, inaugurated by PM Modi, anticipates 15,500 attendees from 136 countries, focusing on AI solutions for key sectors like healthcare and agriculture.

New Delhi: India is set to host the AI Impact Summit from February 15 to 20 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. S. Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), announced on Monday that the event will see participation from over 100 countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the expo and is expected to host a dinner that evening as well as address a CEO Round Table, according to Secretary Krishnan during a press conference. He noted the anticipated attendance of heads of government from 15 to 20 countries, including France.

Global tech leaders are also confirmed to attend, with notable figures such as Bill Gates, Dennis Hassabis, CEO of DeepMind Technologies, Daria Modi, CEO of Anthropic, Shantanu Narayan, CEO of Adobe, Mark Benioff, CEO of Salesforce, Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm, and Raj Subramanyam, CEO of FedEx among others. Invitations have been sent to nearly 140 countries, with approximately 15,500 registrations from 136 countries, including 76 from the Global South.

The summit is expected to draw over 100 global AI leaders, including CXOs, CSOs, leading academics, and other influential thinkers. Secretary Krishnan emphasized that a significant number of high-impact events are already ongoing, with preparations for the summit that week. “We expect close to about 800 events to be held,” he stated.

Focusing on the summit’s objectives, Krishnan explained that the initiative aims to create AI solutions for various productive sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, governance, education, and manufacturing. “The idea is to build solutions for the productive sectors of the economy,” he remarked, indicating that advancements in AI should drive tangible benefits in these areas.

The summit is anchored by three guiding principles or “sutras”: People, Planet, and Progress. These principles aim to frame how AI can serve humanity, protect the environment, and promote inclusive growth. The guiding sutras are operationalized through seven “Chakras,” which are thematic working groups focusing on critical dimensions of AI’s global impact.

By aligning these sutras and chakras, the summit aims to shift discussions from aspirational commitments to quantifiable outcomes, ensuring that the benefits of AI are equitably distributed worldwide. Krishnan noted that over 310 events have already occurred in the last 140 days, averaging more than two events a day globally.

This comprehensive agenda reflects the urgency and significance of the AI sector as it continues to evolve and influence various facets of society. As the world increasingly embraces AI technologies, the AI Impact Summit presents a critical platform for collaboration, innovation, and dialogue among global stakeholders, aiming to maximize the positive effects of AI while addressing its challenges.

The summit underscores India’s growing role in the global AI landscape, positioning the country as a key player in shaping the future of technology and its applications across multiple sectors. With the participation of established leaders and rising stars in AI, the event promises to be a landmark occasion for advancing international cooperation and finding solutions to some of the most pressing challenges faced by humanity today.
