SAP and Cohere Launch Sovereign AI Solutions in Canada for Secure Data Management

SAP and Cohere expand their partnership to deliver secure, scalable AI solutions from Canada, enhancing enterprise data management for organizations facing 75% data challenge.

SAP and Cohere have announced an expansion of their partnership to offer full-stack sovereign AI solutions globally, starting from Canada. The deal, revealed on February 10, 2026, builds on their prior integration of Cohere’s advanced enterprise AI models and platform, North, into SAP’s EU AI Cloud and Business Technology Platform. This collaboration aims to provide secure, scalable, and region-specific AI solutions tailored for global enterprises and government sectors.

SAP Canada Inc., a subsidiary of SAP SE, plans to integrate North’s agentic capabilities into its leading Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Sovereign Cloud environment. This initiative is particularly significant for Canadian organizations in the public sector and other heavily regulated industries, as it allows them to utilize the power of AI while ensuring complete control over their sensitive data.

As the landscape of artificial intelligence evolves, organizations are faced with the dual necessity of rapidly innovating while complying with stringent data security and sovereignty regulations. The partnership between SAP and Cohere addresses these challenges by embedding powerful automation capabilities powered by large language models (LLMs) into SAP’s secure, Canadian-operated sovereign cloud infrastructure. This integration simplifies the deployment of advanced AI solutions, eliminating the need for customers to build and manage their own AI engineering environments while maintaining data residency and control.

“Canadian organizations are at a critical juncture where they must innovate with AI without compromising on security or data sovereignty,” said Cathy Tough, Country Manager, SAP Canada. “By integrating Cohere North’s powerful enterprise platform into SAP’s trusted sovereign cloud, we are removing the operational burden for our customers. This partnership provides sovereignty at global scale, empowering businesses and public sector entities to unlock the full potential of their data securely and drive the next wave of innovation.”

Historically, companies have struggled to balance the innovative advantages of public cloud services against the security assurances offered by on-premise infrastructures. SAP’s sovereign cloud solution was specifically designed to resolve this issue, offering a comprehensive cloud stack with elevated security standards fully operated within Canada. The integration of Cohere’s platform enhances this offering, delivering secure by design, enterprise-ready AI solutions.

“Partnering with SAP, a global leader in enterprise applications, is a natural fit,” said Francois Chadwick, Chief Financial Officer, Cohere. “By integrating our state-of-the-art enterprise AI technology into SAP’s sovereign cloud, we provide organizations both in Canada and globally with the tools to build transformative agentic AI solutions on their own terms, backed by the security, accuracy, and privacy that modern enterprises demand.”

The urgency for robust, integrated AI solutions is underscored by a recent SAP AI report indicating that while 71 percent of organizations depend on data for investment decisions, 75 percent face challenges due to incomplete data. By embedding AI directly into core SAP applications, this partnership seeks to mitigate data fragmentation and incorporate production-ready AI into essential business processes.

The future of AI is poised to be sovereign, secure, and scalable, addressing the growing need for innovation without compromising on data integrity.
