The India-AI Impact Summit 2026 is set to commence in New Delhi tomorrow, marking the first-ever global AI summit hosted in the Global South. This five-day event will bring together world leaders from 20 nations to address the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on society and the economy.
Among the prominent attendees are the President of France, Emmanuel Macron; the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva; and the President of Spain, Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón. Other notable leaders include Guy Parmelin, President of Switzerland; Prime Minister Dick Schoof of the Netherlands; Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the UAE; Prime Minister of Mauritius Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam; President of Sri Lanka Anura Kumara Disanayaka; Vice President of Seychelles Sebastien Pillay; and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan.
The Indian External Affairs Ministry confirmed that leaders from Bolivia, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Guyana, Kazakhstan, Liechtenstein, Serbia, and Slovakia will also be present. Ministerial delegations from over 45 countries are expected, alongside the UN Secretary General and senior officials from various international organizations, signifying a broad spectrum of global participation.
Guided by three foundational pillars, or Sutras—People, Planet, and Progress—the Summit aims to foster global cooperation on AI. Discussions will be organized through seven interconnected thematic areas known as Chakras, which include Human Capital, Inclusion for Social Empowerment, Safe and Trusted AI, Science, Resilience, Innovation, and Efficiency. Additionally, the Chakras will focus on Democratizing AI Resources and leveraging AI for Economic Development and Social Good.
More than 100 countries have been invited, with over 200,000 individuals registering online to participate. The Summit aims to enhance India’s role as a key platform for shaping the global AI agenda, positioning the country as a convenor and partner in international AI cooperation. This includes the establishment of shared standards, collaborative frameworks, and scalable solutions for the public good.
