The target audience for Claude Opus 4.5 is telling. White noted that the model’s primary users include “professional software developers and knowledge workers like financial analysts, consultants, and accountants.” These are not casual users; instead, they represent the backbone of enterprise AI adoption and significant financial contracts.

Anthropic’s strategic naming convention further highlights its approach. Within its Claude family, Opus is the flagship model, while Sonnet serves mid-tier applications and Haiku is tailored for lighter workloads. The leap from Claude Opus 4.1, released in August, to 4.5 signals substantial advancements in just a quarter of a year.
