Indranil Sarkar, a member of the startup team at OpenAI, announced on LinkedIn the company’s inaugural OpenAI Builder Lounge, set to take place in Singapore on February 4. This event aims to foster connections among founders and technical leaders of AI-native startups, providing them with a platform to engage directly with OpenAI’s startup and solutions teams.
OpenAI, known for its development of large-scale artificial intelligence models and developer platforms, is increasingly focused on facilitating the deployment of AI-powered applications for startups and enterprises. In his post, Sarkar noted that the Builder Lounge will offer participants opportunities to exchange ideas and discuss current projects. “We are hosting our first-ever OpenAI Builder Lounge in SG in two weeks, and there are a few seats still available,” he stated.
Scheduled from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm, the event is designed around coworking and live interaction, diverging from traditional formal presentations. Participants will collaborate alongside other builders, gaining access to OpenAI tools and team members throughout the evening. “Join us at the OpenAI Builder Lounge for an evening of coworking and new connections. You’ll work side-by-side with other builders and learn about the latest products directly from the OpenAI team,” Sarkar elaborated.
The structure of the event emphasizes practical application rather than theoretical discussions. Participants are encouraged to bring questions and showcase their work by the end of the night. The program includes coworking sessions featuring direct access to Codex, an ask-me-anything session with the OpenAI team, dinner with fellow founders and developers, and open demos where participants can present their projects.
Attendance is capped, requiring applicants to submit details about their company, product focus, and objectives for participating. The application process also includes a section for accessibility requirements, ensuring inclusivity for all attendees.
In a related development, Sarkar confirmed in a separate LinkedIn post last month that he has joined the OpenAI startups team, aligning the Singapore Builder Lounge with a broader strategy targeting the Asia-Pacific region. “Excited to share that I have joined the OpenAI startups team. Looking forward to working with startups and founders to build category-defining AI-native businesses across APAC,” he expressed.
