Renaissance Appoints Gerri Martin-Flickinger as Board Chair to Drive K–12 Innovation

Renaissance elevates Gerri Martin-Flickinger as Board Chair to leverage her tech expertise in enhancing K–12 educational outcomes through AI innovation.

Renaissance has appointed Gerri Martin-Flickinger as Chair of its Board of Directors, effective immediately, the company announced on January 14, 2026. Martin-Flickinger brings extensive experience in technology leadership, having held senior roles across both enterprise and consumer platforms, which Renaissance believes will be instrumental in its mission to enhance educational outcomes.

Renaissance, known for its K–12 assessment, reading, and learning analytics tools, sees Martin-Flickinger’s appointment as a strategic advantage as it continues to expand its reach and invest in artificial intelligence. Prior to this role, she served as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Starbucks. Her tenure at Starbucks equipped her with insights into customer-centric technology solutions, reinforcing Renaissance’s commitment to innovating for educators and students.

In her statement, Martin-Flickinger expressed her enthusiasm for joining Renaissance, stating, “I’m honored to join Renaissance’s Board of Directors and support its mission to accelerate learning for all. Education is the foundation of opportunity, and I’m energized by the tremendous potential ahead.” She emphasized her eagerness to guide the company in its ongoing innovation and growth efforts.

In addition to her role at Renaissance, Martin-Flickinger currently serves as Chair of the Board at Ellucian, a provider of software for higher education, and is a Board Member at Charles Schwab. Renaissance highlighted her previous experience as Chief Information Officer at Adobe during the company’s transition to a cloud-based subscription model, as well as her leadership roles at Verisign, McAfee, and Network Associates. This diverse background aligns well with Renaissance’s objectives as the company seeks to strengthen its governance amidst the evolving technological landscape in education.

Chris Bauleke, Chief Executive Officer at Renaissance, welcomed Martin-Flickinger’s appointment, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Gerri to our Board. Her leadership in using technology and AI to create customer-centric solutions will be invaluable as we continue to innovate and scale to meet the evolving needs of educators and students.” This sentiment underscores the growing importance of technology in education, particularly as schools increasingly adopt digital tools for teaching and learning.

As the education sector continues to embrace technology, Renaissance’s leadership change comes at a pivotal moment. The integration of AI into educational tools is becoming more prevalent, and companies like Renaissance are looking to leverage these advancements to improve learning outcomes. With Martin-Flickinger at the helm of the board, the company aims to navigate these challenges while enhancing the educational experience for learners and educators alike.

As Renaissance moves forward, the emphasis on innovation and the incorporation of cutting-edge technology will likely define its future strategies. The company’s ability to adapt to the rapid changes in the educational landscape, particularly through AI-driven solutions, will play a significant role in its success. In an era where technology is increasingly intertwined with education, Renaissance’s commitment to growth and innovation positions it well to meet the needs of an evolving market.
