RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the Cyient AI & Future Skills Hub on Sunday at the Digital Bhavan in Pedamainvarilanka village, located in the Narasapuram mandal of West Godavari district. This initiative, developed under the Cyient Foundation, seeks to foster rural employment and equip youth, women, farmers, self-help groups, and local communities with AI-enabled, future-ready skills.
During her address, Sitharaman described the hub as a model for AI-driven rural skill and livelihood centers, framing it within India’s broader digital transformation agenda. The initiative aligns with national priorities such as Digital India, Skill India, and the vision for Viksit Bharat 2047. She highlighted that the project exemplifies how corporate social responsibility (CSR) partnerships can enhance government infrastructure while promoting inclusive and sustainable development.
The facility is equipped with modern amenities, including smart classrooms, a 40-system computer lab, drone training equipment, high-speed internet connectivity, and both licensed and open-source AI tools. Additionally, it features a centralized learning management system to streamline training efforts.
Training at the hub will be structured around three tracks aligned with the National Skills Qualifications Framework: AI-enabled digital and IT literacy, AI-based digital marketing and e-commerce, and agri-tech and aqua-tech focusing on drone operations. Each course is designed to follow a 12-week model, comprising 60 percent practical training and 40 percent AI-assisted theoretical instruction. Participants will receive certification, placement support, and self-employment opportunities to promote sustainable livelihoods.
The establishment of the Cyient AI & Future Skills Hub represents a significant step towards bridging the skills gap in rural areas of India.
