Telangana Government Partners with Pearson to Enhance AI Education and Skilling Initiatives

Telangana partners with Pearson to enhance AI education through Aikam, aiming to build a globally recognized, future-ready talent pipeline.

The Government of Telangana has announced a new collaboration with Pearson, aimed at enhancing AI skilling, assessments, and credentialing initiatives through Aikam, the state’s recently established autonomous AI innovation entity. Pearson is the first partner to join Aikam, and this partnership was formalized with an agreement signed during the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos.

This agreement reflects a mutual commitment to building a future-ready AI talent pipeline that aligns with global standards and meets industry demands. The collaboration is designed to support the Global AI Academy, which is being developed under the Aikam platform, according to an official press release from Pearson.

In the context of rapidly evolving AI technologies, the partnership seeks to leverage Pearson’s significant expertise in learning content, assessments, and globally recognized credentials. “Building AI capability at scale requires not just access to technology, but strong learning frameworks, trusted assessment, and globally portable credentials,” said Sanjay Kumar, special chief secretary of information technology, electronics and communications and industries & commerce department for the Government of Telangana.

Vishaal Gupta, president of Pearson Enterprise Learning & Skills, emphasized that the collaboration aims to assist learners and workers as AI transforms careers and workplace dynamics. “Through this collaboration with the Government of Telangana and Aikam, Pearson aims to contribute our global expertise in learning and credentialing,” he stated.

Phani Nagarjuna, Founding CEO of Aikam, added that the partnership is intended to establish AI learning pathways that are “internationally portable, industry-relevant and aligned with the future of work.” Aikam is described in the press release as an open innovation entity aimed at positioning Telangana among the world’s leading innovation hubs by integrating population-scale datasets, mass upskilling, AI-first startup acceleration, and high-performance computing infrastructure.

The collaboration comes at a time when educational institutions and governments globally are increasingly focusing on AI and technology skills to prepare their workforces for the future. As AI technologies continue to evolve, initiatives like this one may play a crucial role in ensuring that individuals are equipped with the necessary skills to thrive in an AI-driven job market.

By combining Pearson’s educational expertise with Aikam’s innovative framework, this partnership represents a significant step forward in the effort to create a highly skilled workforce capable of navigating the complexities of an AI-enhanced economy.

As the collaboration develops, it is expected to yield meaningful outcomes that not only benefit the state of Telangana but also serve as a model for AI education and training initiatives worldwide. The government and Pearson aim to create a comprehensive ecosystem that will enhance the learning experience and provide individuals with recognized qualifications in the burgeoning field of artificial intelligence.
