Fujitsu Launches AI-Driven Platform, Achieving 100-Fold Productivity Increase in Software Development

Fujitsu unveils an AI-driven platform that boosts software development productivity by 100 times, promising full automation and rapid adaptability by 2026.

FUJITSU Limited has launched an artificial intelligence-driven platform that aims to transform the software development landscape, automating the entire coding and application engineering process. The company positions this initiative as a catalyst for innovation and sustainable growth for its clientele and society at large.

The platform automates every stage of the software development process, from requirements definition and design to implementation and integration testing. It leverages the Takane large language model (LLM) and agentic AI technology, developed by Fujitsu Research, enabling AI agents to comprehend complex and evolving large-scale systems owned by enterprises and public organizations.

According to Fujitsu, multiple AI agents collaboratively execute each phase of software development, achieving full automation without human involvement. The company has ambitious plans, aiming to implement revisions for all 67 types of medical and government business software products provided by Fujitsu Japan Limited by the end of fiscal year 2026. These updates are necessitated by changes in legal and regulatory requirements.

From January 2026, the platform is set to be utilized in Japan for software modifications driven by the 2026 medical fee revisions. Fujitsu highlighted a proof of concept that successfully updated software according to the 2024 medical fee revisions, showcasing a remarkable reduction in development time. What would typically require three person-months using conventional methods was shortened to just four hours with the new technology, resulting in a 100-fold increase in productivity.

The company emphasizes that this AI-driven development platform will significantly enhance the efficiency of software modifications arising from legal amendments and system changes. Fujitsu stated that it would alleviate the burden of system verification during these modifications, allowing more time for planning and development aimed at improving services for patients, residents, and customers. This flexibility will enable clients and partners to continuously adapt to shifting operational demands and societal needs.

Fujitsu envisions the platform as a solution to the growing demand for information technology (IT) services while addressing the escalating shortage of IT professionals. The company plans to extend the application of its AI-driven software development platform across a diverse array of sectors, including finance, manufacturing, retail, and public services, by the end of fiscal 2026.

Furthermore, Fujitsu will offer this service to customers and partner companies, enabling them to develop systems rapidly and flexibly in response to changes in their business environments. This strategic move not only aligns with current technological trends but also enhances Fujitsu’s position in a competitive market driven by an urgent need for adaptive and efficient software solutions.

As companies increasingly seek to harness the power of artificial intelligence, Fujitsu’s platform represents a significant advancement in addressing both the technical and operational challenges that organizations face today. By integrating AI into the software development process, Fujitsu not only aims to enhance productivity but also to foster an ecosystem of continuous innovation that can adapt to the complexities of modern business and regulatory landscapes.
