NVIDIA Invests $2B in CoreWeave to Expand AI Factory Infrastructure to 5GW by 2030

NVIDIA invests $2 billion in CoreWeave to expand AI factory infrastructure, targeting over 5GW capacity by 2030 to meet escalating global AI demand

NVIDIA has announced a significant expansion of its partnership with CoreWeave, Inc., marked by a $2 billion investment aimed at bolstering the development of large-scale AI factories. This initiative aligns with NVIDIA’s strategy to meet the surging global demand for AI computing capabilities, with the goal of achieving over five gigawatts of capacity by 2030.

The investment was made through the purchase of Class A common stock at a price of $87.20 per share, reflecting NVIDIA’s confidence in CoreWeave’s cloud platform and its leadership team. This collaboration is expected to address the escalating needs of organizations as they scale AI training, inference, and production workloads.

Under the terms of the agreement, CoreWeave will utilize NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platforms to establish and operate AI factories, thereby enhancing its ability to meet customer demand. NVIDIA will leverage its financial resources to expedite the procurement of essential land, power, and infrastructure needed for new facilities.

This deepened partnership encompasses a comprehensive alignment across infrastructure, software, and platforms. NVIDIA is set to test and validate CoreWeave’s AI-native software and reference architectures, including SUNK and CoreWeave Mission Control. The intent is to improve interoperability and potentially integrate these architectures into NVIDIA’s reference models for cloud partners and enterprise customers.

CoreWeave plans to deploy various generations of NVIDIA technology throughout its platform, including early access to upcoming innovations such as the NVIDIA Rubin platform, NVIDIA Vera CPUs, and NVIDIA BlueField storage systems. This forward-looking approach aims to enhance the operational capacity and efficiency of AI applications.

NVIDIA’s founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, highlighted that AI is driving “the largest infrastructure buildout in history,” emphasizing the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on global technology landscapes. Meanwhile, CoreWeave’s CEO, Michael Intrator, noted that the expanded collaboration underscores the robust customer demand as AI systems transition into large-scale production.

The investment and expansion signify a pivotal moment for both companies, as they position themselves at the forefront of the AI revolution. As organizations increasingly integrate AI into their operations, the infrastructure to support this growth will be paramount. This collaboration not only reflects a strategic alignment of resources but also underscores the critical role that NVIDIA and CoreWeave will play in shaping the future of AI technology.
