MIPS Showcases RISC-V Innovations for AI at Chiplet Summit 2026 in Santa Clara

MIPS unveils cutting-edge RISC-V innovations for AI at the 2026 Chiplet Summit, emphasizing a software-first approach to enhance chiplet design efficiency.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., February 13, 2026–Chiplet Summit, recognized as the industry’s largest chiplet event, will welcome MIPS, a GlobalFoundries company, to its 2026 edition scheduled from February 17-19 at the Santa Clara Convention Center. The event will serve as a platform for industry leaders to discuss advancements in chiplet technology and its application in emerging markets.

Drew Barbier, Vice President of Products at MIPS, is set to deliver a presentation titled “Safety-Critical Physical AI Applications Using RISC-V.” He will also contribute to a panel discussion on “Selecting the Right Chiplets for Your Edge Application.” In parallel, Sam Grove, Head of Software and Tools at MIPS, will present insights on “Software Guided Intelligence for Accelerating Chiplet Designs.”

Barbier expressed enthusiasm for the summit, emphasizing its importance as a meeting ground for key players in the semiconductor ecosystem. “We look forward to attending the 2026 Chiplet Summit as it brings key players in the semiconductor ecosystem, as well as serves as the ideal venue to discuss how RISC-V processors and software are critical to the next generation of physical AI applications,” he stated. His presentations will highlight a software-first approach to platform design, illustrating how chiplets can enable workload-specific customization through the MIPS Atlas portfolio.

MIPS’ involvement underscores the expanding role of RISC-V processors in chiplet-based platforms, particularly in sectors such as automotive, industrial, and embedded AI markets. Chuck Sobey, General Chair of Chiplet Summit, noted the pivotal role processor decisions play in system design. “MIPS’ leadership will offer our attendees the insights they need to adopt software-first RISC-V designs across a wide array of applications,” he said.

The shift towards a software-first methodology in system design has become increasingly significant. Grove elaborated on this trend, stating, “A software-first approach is the foundation of modern system design. At MIPS, we are enabling a ‘shift-left’ methodology through digital twin platform modeling with the MIPS Atlas Explorer, delivering data-driven insights into workload behavior and pre-silicon validation.” He highlighted that as demand for high-performance, domain-specific compute solutions rises, the ability to analyze and optimize interactions between workloads and customizable compute platforms becomes a genuine competitive advantage.
