AXISCADES Technologies’ subsidiary Mistral Solutions has secured a defence contract valued at approximately ₹100 crore for radar subsystems, as announced in a company statement. The order is part of the LLTR Ashwini programme, India’s indigenous low-level transportable radar initiative developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).
The contract encompasses the supply of signal and data processing units along with associated spares over a two-year period. These systems are tasked with enhancing low-altitude surveillance capabilities against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), helicopters, and fighter aircraft under the Ashwini radar programme.
Mistral Solutions will provide liquid-cooled processing units tailored for demanding radar operations in challenging field environments. The company highlighted that this contract not only offers revenue visibility throughout the delivery period but also reinforces its position in defence electronics programmes led by DRDO and BEL.
In a statement regarding the contract win, C Manikandan, CEO of Mistral, commented, “The LLTR Ashwini programme win reflects Mistral’s continued commitment to supporting India’s defence indigenisation initiatives and contributing critical technologies to next-generation military systems.”
AXISCADES emphasized that this achievement builds on its longstanding collaboration with defence forces, laboratories, and public sector units across radar, avionics, and electronic warfare sectors. The company operates across multiple regions including India, Europe, and North America, employing over 3,000 professionals.
In a related development within India’s defence sector, IG Defence (previously known as IG Drones) has also secured orders from the Indian Army and Navy for its indigenous counter-drone system, the IG T-Shul Pulse Anti-Drone Gun. This system is set for deployment on the front lines to bolster India’s counter-unmanned aerial systems capability. This contract follows an earlier agreement with the Indian Air Force signed in March of the previous year.
As India ramps up its focus on defence indigenisation, contracts like the one awarded to Mistral Solutions underscore the increasing role of local companies in national security initiatives. The LLTR Ashwini programme, specifically designed for low-altitude surveillance, signifies a strategic step in enhancing operational readiness against evolving aerial threats.
The growing emphasis on indigenous technologies and capabilities in the defence sector not only strengthens national security but also fosters self-reliance in military systems, reflecting a broader trend in defence procurement strategies. The success of Mistral Solutions in securing this contract may pave the way for future opportunities in the defence electronics landscape, aligning with the government’s push for a robust and self-sustaining defence framework.
