On the eve of the Spring Festival, Shanghai’s ‘Model Speed Space’ unveiled new products, signaling an active engagement of AI infrastructure companies as they prepare for the peak holiday season. The Spring Festival has evolved into a key launch period for major AI model firms, particularly following DeepSeek’s impactful debut in 2025, and this year appears to be no different.
According to a report from STAR Market Daily on February 16, Shanghai’s AI sector, featuring a comprehensive chain from foundational chips to application software, is bracing for heightened activity. In anticipation of the holiday season, local manufacturers have instituted operational safeguards to ensure uninterrupted service. Some companies have strategically chosen to release new products ahead of the festival to maximize traffic.
This year, technology is seamlessly integrating into traditional festivities. At the Yuyuan Garden’s Nine-Curve Bridge in Shanghai, advanced robotic models like the Zhiyuan Lingxi X2 and Yuanzheng A2 participated in blessing ceremonies, parades, and lantern-lighting, enriching the experience for both domestic and international visitors.
Among the notable launches, MiniMax introduced the MiniMax M2.5, which boasts exceptional reasoning speed and cost efficiency. The M2.5-lightning version supports output speeds exceeding 100 tokens per second (TPS), roughly double the capacity of prevalent models. With input and output costs around $0.3 and $2.4 per million tokens, respectively, MiniMax projects that such efficiency could fundamentally alter the financial dynamics of deploying intelligent agents.
Another entrant, Jiding ShuChuang, debuted its AI 3D creation platform, ‘V2Fun,’ which encompasses the entire creative process—from AI image generation to 3D animation. The platform aims to streamline 3D content production, a service increasingly demanded by sectors like gaming and film. Ji Pan, founder and CEO of Jiding ShuChuang, shared that following successful internal testing in China, the global launch was timed just before the Spring Festival. He emphasized the platform’s capabilities in significantly reducing the time needed for 3D model and animation production.
As the Spring Festival approached, some members of the Jiding team opted to forego holiday travel to ensure operational continuity. Ji Pan indicated that demand from business clients for 3D tools is on the rise, with plans to open up internal testing by early March, paving the way for full commercialization.
Infrastructure providers are also ramping up their readiness for the holiday surge. An official from Wuwen Xin Universe highlighted that several new models were launched just prior to the festival, placing heavy demands on the entire supply chain. Teams across departments have maintained a ‘ready’ status to support clients accessing the latest models on their platform, ensuring responsive engagement between users and AI during the holiday.
On the day of Zhipu’s new model launch, Shanghai-based GPU firms Muxi Co. and TianShuZhiXin adapted the new model for deployment. While the timeline for DeepSeek’s next model remains uncertain, Muxi Co. is prepared for immediate support, including model adaptation and machine deployment. UCloud, a key cloud service provider in Shanghai, recently deployed Zhipu GLM-5 as part of its offerings, prioritizing network security during the festival by establishing a command center to monitor and enhance core platforms and response capabilities.
The Yuyuan Lantern Festival has also adopted a fresh technological twist this year, featuring robots in various festive roles. These robots participated in blessing rituals and performances, attracting significant attention. Engineers from Zhiyuan’s platform ensured that robots operated smoothly in the bustling environment, addressing challenges posed by high crowd density and the need for continuous operation.
As the Lantern Festival unfolded, engineers conducted regular inspections to maintain robot performance, ensuring that technological elements seamlessly integrated with traditional celebrations. Representatives from Qingtianzu noted that they’ve established comprehensive operational plans to guarantee reliable robot functions throughout the holiday, highlighting the growing fusion of technology and culture.
This unique blend of tradition and innovation during the Spring Festival not only showcases Shanghai’s vibrant tech landscape but also signals a broader evolution in how cultural events are celebrated in the digital age. The developments seen this year may set new standards for future festivities as the integration of AI continues to reshape experiences.
