Delhi Prepares for AI Impact Summit 2026: 10,000 Global Delegates, Tight Security, and High Stakes

Delhi gears up for the AI Impact Summit 2026 with over 150,000 registrations and 10,000 international delegates amid extensive security measures and high-profile attendees.

NEW DELHI: Delhi is preparing to host the AI Impact Summit 2026, one of the largest global gatherings focused on artificial intelligence, from February 16 to 20. The event will draw world leaders, top tech CEOs, and thousands of delegates to Bharat Mandapam, with extensive security and logistical measures in place.

More than 10,000 Delhi Police personnel will be deployed in and around the venue, as confirmed by news agency PTI. This force will comprise district police, traffic officers, specialized units, and reserve forces. Security measures are already being implemented ahead of the summit.

The summit’s notable guest list includes French President Emmanuel Macron, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, among many other leaders from Europe and Asia.

With over 150,000 registrations, including 10,000 international delegates from more than 30 countries, the summit is poised to be one of the largest international events Delhi has hosted in recent years. The influx of attendees has led to significant impacts on local accommodations and transport, prompting authorities to implement stringent traffic curbs and diversions in central Delhi.

Approximately 5,000 traffic police personnel will oversee traffic management, particularly during VVIP movements. To keep the public informed, the Delhi Traffic Police will provide real-time advisories through social media throughout the summit days.

Luxury accommodations are now fully booked, with high demand resulting in skyrocketing prices. Suites at renowned hotels like Taj, Oberoi, Leela, Maurya, Imperial, and JW Marriott are listed between ₹11 lakh to ₹30 lakh per night, while standard rooms for February 19-20 are reaching upwards of ₹5.5 lakh per night.

The timing of the summit coincides with the Class XII board exams, which begin on February 17. Authorities are coordinating with nearby exam centers to minimize disruptions for students amidst this busy period.

Entry to the summit will be strictly controlled through QR-code passes. The IT Ministry has established a dedicated AI Impact Summit Cell for coordination, intelligence sharing, and real-time responses during the event. Emergency services, including ambulances, will be on standby along VVIP routes.

As part of its commitment to sustainability, the summit will be a plastic-free and paperless event, featuring digital registration, eco-friendly signage, and food waste composting. The initiative aims to promote food distribution via NGOs and ensure accessibility for all attendees.

The AI Impact Summit 2026 signifies a major step in bringing together global leaders to discuss the implications of artificial intelligence on society and the economy. With its ambitious agenda and high-profile attendance, the summit is expected to have a lasting impact on AI policy and innovation, positioning Delhi as a key player in the global technology landscape.
