IBM Korea held a data strategy meeting on October 9 in Yeouido, Seoul, where President Lee Soo-jung emphasized the importance of data in enabling companies to leverage Generative AI for business innovation. In addressing this challenge, Lee called for organizations to internalize data strategies across their operations. He recommended creating methodologies for harnessing unstructured data and establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure how effectively data contributes to sales conversions. This holistic approach is vital for optimizing AI utilization.
Moreover, Lee advocated for the introduction of AI agents capable of efficiently accessing high-quality data and the adoption of hybrid cloud solutions that allow real-time data utilization. Such advancements are crucial for fostering an environment where AI can operate swiftly and effectively.
To bolster its capabilities in the data sector, IBM recently acquired Confluence, a real-time data streaming platform, for $11 billion (approximately 16.1 trillion won). Lee explained the significance of this acquisition, stating, “It is a strategy to provide a channel for AI to quickly access data,” adding that it aims to create substantial synergy with IBM’s evolving business direction.
