AWS Executive Says Generative AI Will Unlock New Markets for Indian Companies

AWS’s Shaown Nandi asserts that generative AI will empower Indian companies to penetrate global markets by overcoming language barriers and regulatory hurdles.

Las Vegas: Generative and agentic AI is poised to unlock new market opportunities for Indian companies by overcoming language barriers and navigating complex regulatory environments, according to Shaown Nandi, director of technology at Amazon Web Services (AWS). Speaking on the sidelines of the AWS re:Invent conference in Las Vegas, Nandi emphasized that these technologies would level the playing field for Indian firms seeking to operate in the global market.

“India has been a big market for global companies, and everyone wants a share of India. But I think generative and agentic AI will unlock markets for the Indian companies,” Nandi stated. His comments reflect a growing optimism within the industry regarding the transformative potential of AI technologies, particularly in emerging markets.

The rise of generative AI is reshaping the technological landscape, enabling businesses to create content, automate processes, and enhance decision-making. According to Nandi, this innovation is crucial for Indian firms as they strive to become competitive on a global scale. He pointed out that a historical perception of emerging markets being sidelined during technological advancements is becoming outdated. “The world is flat now, and an Indian company can access the capabilities from anywhere,” he noted.

As companies worldwide increasingly adopt AI, Indian firms stand to benefit significantly from these advancements. Nandi explained that generative and agentic AI tools help simplify complex tasks that often pose barriers for businesses entering international markets. For example, language processing capabilities can facilitate communication with clients and partners across different languages, while AI-driven compliance solutions can help navigate the diverse regulatory frameworks in various regions.

The implications of these technologies extend beyond mere access to tools; they represent a fundamental shift in how Indian companies can leverage their capabilities to attract global investment and partnerships. Nandi underscored the importance of this shift, stating that the ability to effectively communicate and comply with regulations will be instrumental in enhancing the competitiveness of Indian firms.

Furthermore, the AWS executive’s comments highlight a broader trend of companies recognizing the potential of AI to democratize access to technology. By lowering the barriers to entry, generative and agentic AI can empower smaller firms to innovate and compete alongside larger, established players in the market.

Ultimately, Nandi’s insights point to a future where Indian companies can more readily participate in the global economy, driven by the capabilities enabled through AI. As these technologies evolve, they are likely to play a pivotal role in shaping the business landscape, not just in India, but across emerging markets.
