However, as these AI companions gain traction, concerns surrounding their potential psychological risks, particularly for minors and individuals with mental health issues, are becoming increasingly prominent.
The development of AI models has largely occurred in isolation from mental health professionals, lacking sufficient pre-release clinical testing. This gap raises serious concerns about user safety, as anecdotal evidence suggests that many AI companions, including ChatGPT, have caused harm.
