AppGate Launches Agentic AI Core Protection to Secure AI Workloads with Zero Trust

AppGate launches Agentic AI Core Protection to secure AI workloads across on-premises and cloud environments, enhancing compliance with zero trust principles.

AppGate, a leader in zero trust network access (ZTNA), has launched its new capability, Agentic AI Core Protection, designed to secure AI workloads in enterprise environments, including both on-premises and cloud platforms. This initiative allows organizations to adopt AI-driven transformation while ensuring robust security and compliance protocols are maintained.

As businesses accelerate their AI adoption, AI agents are increasingly being deployed in servers, virtual machines (VMs), and Kubernetes clusters as part of security and compliance policies. However, these deployments often expose Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and web interfaces, creating new vulnerabilities. Traditional ZTNA solutions have primarily focused on user endpoints, inadvertently neglecting non-human identities and machine-to-machine traffic. This oversight can lead to risks like lateral movement, unauthorized access, and compliance violations.

“AI agents are transforming enterprise operations – but they also open new attack surfaces. Extending zero trust to the network layer is critical,” stated Leo Taddeo, CEO of AppGate. The Agentic AI Core Protection capability aims to lock down AI agents at their core, enabling organizations to innovate securely without compromising on compliance.

With the introduction of Agentic AI Core Protection, AppGate ZTNA enhances its security framework by providing identity-based security and micro-perimeters for both human and machine workloads. This ensures that AI agents remain isolated from unauthorized access while operating within strict compliance boundaries. Key features include a Linux Headless Client that enforces ZTNA on servers and VMs lacking a user interface, which is particularly beneficial for AI workloads.

Moreover, the solution offers Kubernetes integration, facilitating sidecar and node-level enforcement for pod-level isolation. It also includes dynamic access policies that are role-based, context-aware, and posture-driven, enhancing security tailored to specific organizational needs. AppGate has implemented cross-platform ZTNA clients, securing user access to APIs and dashboards across various operating systems, including Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile platforms.

Agentic AI Core Protection is now available as part of AppGate ZTNA, marking a significant step in addressing the unique challenges posed by the growing reliance on AI in enterprise settings. As organizations continue to navigate the complexities of integrating AI into their operations, solutions like these will play a pivotal role in balancing innovation with security. The commitment to extending zero trust principles to AI workloads may set a new benchmark in cybersecurity practices as businesses strive to enhance their operational capabilities while minimizing risks.
