AI Leaders Rally Behind PM Modi’s Vision, Paving Path for Ethical Innovation in India

AI leaders from Sarvam AI, Tech Mahindra, and NEURODX rally behind PM Modi’s vision for ethical innovation, aiming to transform India’s tech landscape and empower diverse communities.

Pratyush Kumar, co-founder of Sarvam AI, expressed that insights shared by India’s Prime Minister during a recent summit were particularly inspiring from a technical standpoint. He noted, “India has a lot of diversity and many languages, but there is unity between them. The Prime Minister said AI can help bring that unity out, which was very inspiring for us.”

Echoing Kumar’s sentiments, Nikhil Malhotra, Chief Information Officer at Tech Mahindra, recalled a thought-provoking example shared by the Prime Minister during a prior summit in France. “He spoke about how everyone paints with their right hand and asked if anyone has tried using the left hand. That showed he knows exactly what he is saying,” Malhotra said. He added that Modi’s understanding of the ethical and responsible diffusion of AI technology in India is crucial.

Siddharth Panwar, CEO of NEURODX, noted that discussions at the summit helped refine their vision for AI development. “We realised we don’t want to copy the West. We want to build something that truly changes lives in India,” he said, highlighting the drive for innovation that aligns with India’s unique challenges.

In a similar vein, Parth Sarthi, research engineer at GAN.AI, credited the Prime Minister’s vision for his return to India from the US. “Earlier, such opportunities were only available abroad. Now in India, we have GPUs, funding, and the ecosystem to build world-class AI models,” he remarked, signifying a shift in the landscape for technology professionals.

Arastu Sharma, CEO of SHODH AI, emphasized that the current opportunities in deep-tech and ambitious projects in India were unimaginable just a decade ago. “Today, working on deep-tech and ambitious projects in India is a reality,” he observed, reflecting the rapid development of the technology sector.

Ayush Gupta, CEO of Genloop, reiterated the Prime Minister’s emphasis on authenticity and ethics in AI. “India’s AI has to be ethical and authentic. That is how India can leave its mark on the world,” he stated, underscoring the need for integrity in technology advancement.

During the summit, Ganesh Gopalan, co-founder of GNANI AI, expressed surprise at the Prime Minister’s in-depth understanding of technical issues. “He understands our models, our problems, and is actively helping us move forward globally,” Gopalan noted, illustrating the government’s commitment to supporting AI innovation.

Srikanth Velamakanni, co-founder of Fractal AI, articulated a clear vision for India’s AI trajectory, stating, “India must use its own data, build its own models, and serve every citizen in their own language.” His remarks reflect a broader call for tailored solutions that resonate with India’s diverse population.

Sravanth Aluru, CEO of Avataar AI, highlighted the clarity of purpose given to the industry through the Prime Minister’s discussions. “There is a clear role defined for each of us and a strong push to collaborate for India’s AI leadership,” he said, expressing optimism for future partnerships within the sector.

Furthermore, Hrishikesh Bal, CEO of Bharatgen, remarked on the Prime Minister’s visionary approach, stating, “He is focused on AI’s role in science, innovation, and real transformation.” This focus on practical applications of AI underscores the potential for technological advancements to drive societal change.

Lastly, Sashikumaar Ganesan, founder of Zenteiq, echoed the sentiment that current leadership has reignited innovation across industries in the AI era. As stakeholders within India’s tech landscape reflect on the Prime Minister’s insights, there is a collective sense that the future of AI in the country holds promise for substantial societal advancements.
