The 43rd Convocation of the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi, took place on Sunday at Bharat Mandapam, marking a significant occasion for the graduating class. In attendance was the Union Minister of State for Education and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, who addressed the students, highlighting the critical role architects and planners play in India’s growth and development.
Shri Chaudhary emphasized the importance of innovative thinking, stating, “Artificial Intelligence will not replace architects; it will replace limited thinking.” He urged the graduates to blend creativity, ethics, and technological advancements in their future contributions towards the vision of a Viksit Bharat, or Developed India.
During the ceremony, Prof. Virendra Kumar Paul, Director of SPA New Delhi, announced that this year saw a total of 373 students graduate, including 119 undergraduates, 223 postgraduates, and 31 PhD scholars. Notably, 20 students were awarded gold medals for their exemplary academic achievements, underscoring the institution’s commitment to excellence in education.
The Convocation was presided over by Prof. Ar. Habeeb Khan, Chairperson of SPA, alongside esteemed guests such as Shri Anand Kumar (IAS, Retd.), Chairman of RERA, and Prof. Avinash Chandra Pandey, Director of the Inter-University Accelerator Centre (IUAC). Additionally, the event was attended by a host of distinguished representatives from academia, government, and industry.
