Meta Tests Standalone Vibes App for AI-Generated Videos in Brazil and Mexico

Meta tests a standalone Vibes app for AI-generated videos in Brazil and Mexico, building on a 300% year-over-year content increase from its Meta AI platform.

Meta Platforms is testing a standalone version of its AI-powered short-video feed, Vibes, after experiencing early traction within its Meta AI app, according to media reports. The new full-screen Vibes app, currently available in Brazil and Mexico, aims to separate the AI video feed from other functionalities in the Meta AI app, which primarily focuses on linking with Meta’s AI glasses.

The standalone app exclusively showcases AI-generated video clips, creating an experience reminiscent of popular short-video platforms, albeit with all content produced through artificial intelligence. “Following the strong early traction of Vibes in Meta AI, we are testing a standalone app to build on that momentum,” Meta stated, as reported by Platformer. The company noted that users increasingly engage with the format to create, discover, and share AI-generated videos, asserting that the standalone app provides a more focused and immersive environment.

Launched within the Meta AI app in September last year, Vibes has seen enhancements such as editing and customization tools, which have contributed to increased user engagement. In its fourth-quarter earnings report, Meta revealed that content generated through its Meta AI app had tripled year over year for the quarter ending Q4 2025.

This testing initiative reflects Meta’s broader strategy to expand its footprint in generative AI products and consumer-facing tools. While generative AI video offers users innovative ways to explore concepts and formats, critics have raised concerns that this content, being non-human-created, often relies on existing material, which can stifle originality.

The development of a dedicated Vibes app comes amidst a rapidly evolving landscape in the tech industry where major players are increasingly embracing AI technologies. To stay competitive, companies are investing heavily in tools that leverage AI to enhance user experiences and create new avenues for content creation. The move by Meta could signify a shift in how consumers interact with AI-generated content, presenting both opportunities and challenges as the lines between human and machine-generated material continue to blur.

As Meta ventures into this new territory, the response from users will be critical in determining the future trajectory of Vibes and similar offerings. The company’s focus on AI-generated video may set a new standard for content consumption, influencing not only how videos are created but also how they are perceived by audiences. As Meta continues to innovate in this space, it remains to be seen how it will address concerns regarding originality and the implications of AI-generated content on creative industries.
