Google Launches Lyria 3 in Gemini App with New Audio Verification Features

Google unveils Lyria 3 in the Gemini app, integrating SynthID watermarks for AI-generated music, enhancing content verification and fostering creative expression.

Google has announced new audio verification capabilities in its Gemini app, which aims to enhance the identification of AI-generated content. The app now embeds all tracks generated within it with **SynthID**, an imperceptible watermark designed to help users distinguish Google AI-generated content. Users can simply upload a file to inquire if it was created using Google AI, with Gemini employing SynthID and its own reasoning to deliver a response.

This development is part of Google’s ongoing commitment to responsibly advancing generative AI technologies. Since launching **Lyria** in 2023, the company has focused on collaboration with the music community and has gained insights from various projects, including the **Music AI Sandbox**. Google emphasizes that its music generation tool, Lyria 3, is intended to foster original expression rather than mimic existing artists. If users input prompts that reference specific artists, Gemini will interpret these as broad creative inspiration, generating tracks that reflect a similar style or mood. To safeguard intellectual property, there are filters in place to check outputs against existing content, and users have the option to report any material that may infringe upon their rights or those of others.

In an effort to further ensure responsible usage, Google requires users to adhere to its **Terms of Service** and generative AI prohibited use policies, which explicitly prohibit violations of intellectual property and privacy rights. Lyria 3 is accessible within the Gemini app for users aged 18 and older, supporting multiple languages, including **English**, **German**, **Spanish**, **French**, **Hindi**, **Japanese**, **Korean**, and **Portuguese**. Google plans to enhance the quality and coverage of additional languages, rolling out updates today for desktop and in the upcoming days for mobile devices. Subscribers to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra will benefit from higher usage limits.

The primary objective of music generation within the Gemini app is to enable users to add a personalized soundtrack to their everyday lives. Users are encouraged to explore this feature, which is now available at gemini.google.com. The implications of this technology extend beyond personal enjoyment, as it signifies a significant step forward in the intersection of AI and creative industries. As generative AI continues to evolve, Google’s approach may serve as a benchmark for responsible development in the sector, prompting other tech companies to consider similar ethical frameworks in their innovations.
