Users will activate Siri in the same manner as before—by speaking “Siri” or pressing the side button—but the interaction will feel significantly more intuitive. Sources familiar with the development have indicated to Bloomberg that this chatbot initiative is distinct from the upcoming Siri update slated for release with iOS 26.4, which will retain the current interface while introducing features like enhanced web searches and reading on-screen content.
This ambitious project aligns with Apple’s broader strategy to bolster its reputation in the field of artificial intelligence, particularly following the lukewarm reception of its Apple Intelligence introduced in 2024. Investors responded positively to news of the chatbot enhancements, as reflected in a rise in Apple’s stock price post-announcement. The new Siri is anticipated to be showcased at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June, with a public rollout expected around September as a key feature in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27.
Although engineers have been testing a standalone Siri app that resembles ChatGPT or Gemini, Apple does not intend to release it independently.
