KARACHI: Data Vault Pakistan and the Centre of Excellence Artificial Intelligence Technology Center (CoE AITeC) at the National Centre for Physics (NCP) have formalized a strategic partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at bolstering Pakistan’s capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing, and advanced research. The agreement was signed in Islamabad, marking a significant step toward enhancing the country’s technological infrastructure.
This MoU establishes a framework for long-term collaboration focused on the indigenous development of AI, GPU-accelerated computing, and national-scale research initiatives. The partnership aims to align Pakistan’s leading scientific institutions with a secure, enterprise-grade AI infrastructure that is hosted locally. The move is strategically important for ensuring that sensitive datasets and mission-critical workloads are processed in accordance with national interests, thereby fostering technological self-reliance and driving innovation-led economic growth.
The collaboration covers several key areas, including advanced AI research and applied innovation, access to GPU-based computing resources for both academic and governmental institutions, and training programs that enhance capacity on data-center-grade AI infrastructure. Furthermore, the partnership will enable cloud services and edge AI deployments, and allow for joint participation in government and strategic technology initiatives.
The MoU also facilitates structured collaboration on national projects and government tenders, where the required infrastructure, AI platforms, and compute accelerations can be delivered through synchronized efforts. During the signing ceremony, representatives from NCP and CoE AITeC toured Data Vault Pakistan’s AI-optimized data center facilities, including its GPU-as-a-Service cloud platform and Zahanat AI, Pakistan’s indigenous large-language model initiative.
This facility tour showcased the production-grade AI infrastructure and high-density GPU environments that are specifically tailored for research, government, and enterprise workloads. The demonstration underscored Pakistan’s growing capability to design, host, and operate advanced AI systems domestically, reducing dependency on offshore resources.
In addition, the MoU places a strong emphasis on developing indigenous expertise in AI and advanced computing, focusing on human capital growth through training for researchers, students, and young professionals. It also ensures secure research environments that can accommodate civil, commercial, and sensitive national projects. One of the primary goals is to translate research efforts into deployable, production-grade AI systems that can serve various sectors within the country.
Joint working mechanisms will be implemented to identify priority projects, form cross-functional teams, and seek funding opportunities while adhering to national legal frameworks and institutional policies. The signing ceremony featured key delegations from both Data Vault Pakistan and CoE AITeC, including Dr. Qaisar Ahsan, Director General of NCP, and Ms. Mehwish Salman Ali, Founder and CEO of Data Vault Pakistan, among others.
The MoU is set to be in effect for an initial period of five years, with extensions possible through mutual consent. This agreement provides a scalable collaboration model between national research institutions and sovereign AI infrastructure providers, reinforcing Pakistan’s ambition to emerge as a regional hub for artificial intelligence, scientific computing, and digital innovation.
This partnership not only strengthens the nation’s AI ecosystem but also positions Pakistan for future advancements in technology and research, with the potential to create a sustainable impact on its economic landscape.
