TOKYO, Dec 26, 2025 – (JCN Newswire) – The General Incorporated Association Generative AI Japan, in collaboration with Nikkei Business, has announced the winners of the Japan Generative AI Award 2025. This award honors exceptional applications of generative AI technology and marks the second year of its establishment. The judging committee, comprised of experts in the field, conducted a comprehensive review process resulting in eight awards, including the prestigious Grand Prix.
The Grand Prix was awarded to COLOPL, Inc. for their project “Tsukuyomi: The Divine Hunter.” This game integrates generative AI at its core, utilizing a proprietary AI named “AI Kaneko,” developed in partnership with renowned creator Mr. Kazuma Kaneko. The release saw an impressive generation of over 1.6 million unique Kaneko-style cards in just two months, marking a significant advancement in entertainment technology and establishing a new genre called “Generative Games.”
Two Special Awards were also presented. The first went to SHIFT Inc. for their initiative titled “New Paradigms in Disability Employment.” This program harnesses generative AI to improve work quality by aligning AI capabilities with individual aptitudes, resulting in a 1.7-fold productivity increase. The second was awarded to Shippio, Inc. for their innovative approach to operational transformation in global logistics through their “Multi-Layer AI Agent Concept.” This model automates 70-90% of routine tasks by facilitating collaboration between command-and-control and specialized AI, thus enhancing reliability even for complex tasks.
Five Excellence Awards were also distributed, highlighting a range of impactful projects across various sectors. Digital Hollywood Co., Ltd. received recognition for “Ututor,” a generative AI tool designed to support creative learning by providing automated feedback on students’ work. Machida City Office in Tokyo was acknowledged for developing the “AI Navigator” multi-generative AI platform, aimed at facilitating agile government service delivery. Nakahara Works Co., Ltd. was rewarded for their efforts in business succession, utilizing generative AI to analyze company value, enhancing operational efficiency in small and medium-sized manufacturing.
Another Excellence Award went to Mitsubishi Electric Digital Innovation Corporation for their generative AI-powered service “AnyCOMPASS,” aimed at improving pharmacist efficiency and patient services amid Japan’s declining birthrate and aging population. Lastly, NEC Corporation was recognized for their comprehensive operational innovation employing AI-based process reengineering, achieving a remarkable 96.7% reduction in decision-making cycles through their “Management Cockpit × AI” system.
The awards were evaluated based on criteria including problem setting, implementation, impact, governance, and future potential. Leading the judging committee was Hiroaki Miyata, Representative Director of the General Incorporated Association Generative AI Japan and a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Keio University. The committee included a diverse group of experts from academia and industry, underscoring the collaborative nature of the generative AI landscape.
Initiatives such as these are vital as Japan looks to enhance its industrial competitiveness through the integration of cutting-edge technologies. The Generative AI Japan Association, established in 2024, aims to promote the use of generative AI through collaborations across industry and academia, while also developing rules and guidelines to shape its future.
