GDIT Expands Partnership with Google Public Sector to Enhance AI Solutions for Federal Agencies

General Dynamics Information Technology expands its partnership with Google Public Sector to deliver secure AI solutions, enhancing federal operations and citizen services.

In a significant move to enhance technological capabilities for defense and civilian sectors, General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is expanding its partnership with Google Public Sector to deliver secure AI and cloud solutions. This collaboration aims to improve decision-making processes and modernize citizen services, leveraging both companies’ strengths in technology and integration.

Combining GDIT’s extensive mission experience with Google’s advanced AI, cloud, and cybersecurity offerings, this partnership is poised to transform how federal agencies operate. GDIT plans to integrate its Digital Accelerators portfolio onto Google Cloud. This integration will facilitate the rapid development and deployment of solutions that enhance security, streamline operations, and ultimately contribute to mission success.

Focus on Tactical Edge AI Tools

The initial focus of this collaboration centers on co-investing in the development of AI tools designed for tactical edge operations. GDIT intends to utilize Google Distributed Cloud to provide AI and computing capabilities in remote environments where connectivity may be limited or nonexistent. This “cloud in a box” solution, authorized to operate at the Secret level under Defense Department Impact Level 6, allows users to run workloads even when offline, ensuring that vital operations can continue without interruption.

Modernizing Citizen Engagement

The second area of focus will be enhancing citizen engagement services through GDIT’s AI tools and Google’s Contact Center AI Platform. By employing conversational, generative, and agentic AI technologies, the partnership aims to create efficiencies that improve the customer service experience across a range of civilian and health agencies. This modernization effort reflects the growing need for government services to become more responsive and user-friendly.

Ben Gianni, GDIT’s senior vice president and chief technology officer, emphasized the urgency of innovation in today’s complex environment. He stated, “In this dynamic and complex environment, federal agencies need industry partners to innovate faster than ever before from the tactical edge of the mission to the enterprise. This expanded partnership will enable us to jointly invest, develop and deliver proven solutions at speed to meet diverse demands and advance our national security priorities.”

This collaboration builds on the existing relationship between GDIT and Google Public Sector, marking a strategic step in GDIT’s technology investment strategy. The company is committed to deepening partnerships with commercial technology leaders to foster innovation tailored for governmental agencies.

Jan Niemiec, managing director of national security at Google Public Sector, echoed Gianni’s sentiments, asserting that “this strategic collaboration with GDIT acts as a force multiplier. It pairs our leadership in AI, cloud, and cybersecurity with GDIT’s proven expertise in integrating and delivering complex solutions. From modernizing citizen services with generative AI to delivering critical communication at the mission edge, this partnership will accelerate the government’s digital transformation.”

This enhanced collaboration signifies a pivotal shift in how defense and civilian agencies can harness the power of advanced technologies. As both organizations move forward, their joint efforts are expected to deliver substantial improvements in operational efficiency, security, and public service responsiveness, ultimately benefiting both government agencies and their constituents.
