CaseMark Launches Thurgood: AI Coding Agent for Law Firms with Enterprise Security

CaseMark launches Thurgood, an AI-powered coding agent for law firms, enabling custom app development through natural language with enterprise-level security.

CaseMark has unveiled Thurgood, an AI-powered coding agent designed to help law firms and legal technology companies create custom applications through natural language interactions. The platform debuted on January 21, 2026, and is accessible at www.thurgood.law.

Thurgood utilizes large language models along with the case.dev API infrastructure, allowing users to transform straightforward English descriptions into fully functional legal applications. After a user outlines their requirements, Thurgood engages with clarifying questions before constructing, testing, and deploying software that includes necessary databases and authentication protocols.

The launch coincides with the increasing popularity of the term “vibe coding,” which refers to the process of using AI to create software by merely describing desired outcomes rather than coding. Thurgood aims to apply this innovative approach within the legal sector while ensuring enterprise-level security. Client data is never used for AI training, and all generated code and associated data remain securely isolated, enabling firms to deploy applications behind their own firewalls or integrate with existing identity management systems.

“Are attorneys going to build their own apps? Probably not,” remarked Scott Kveton, CEO and co-founder of CaseMark. “Law firms and legal tech companies are tired of the enterprise software hamster wheel. They want to control their own destiny and build exactly what they need, not wait 18 months for a vendor to maybe add a feature. Thurgood gives them that power with security and privacy built in from day one.”

Thurgood operates on the case.dev unified API platform, providing immediate access to over 40 AI models through a single endpoint. This infrastructure also offers production-ready services, such as serverless databases, optical character recognition (OCR), transcription, and text-to-speech functionalities. The platform ensures encrypted document storage, complete with semantic search and GraphRAG-powered knowledge retrieval, alongside over 700 legal skills that address authentication, compliance, and practice-specific workflows.

Applications can be deployed to production URLs without any need for Git expertise or repository configuration. For enterprises, Thurgood smoothly integrates with existing GitHub workflows to facilitate code review and version control.

Thurgood represents a significant expansion of case.dev’s legal tech infrastructure, transitioning from a developer-focused API toolkit to a comprehensive platform accessible to legal professionals and operational teams who may not have coding expertise but can articulate their needs. “This takes case.dev from API toolkit to complete platform,” Kveton added. “The infrastructure we built for developers is now accessible to anyone with a legal workflow problem to solve.”

The platform is available now at www.thurgood.law, featuring a free tier designed for open-source legal technology initiatives. Additionally, law firms and legal technology companies can access enterprise-grade infrastructure, tailored security configurations, and priority support options.

Thurgood, named in honor of Justice Thurgood Marshall, aims to revolutionize legal technology by providing an AI-driven method for creating custom applications through natural language. This innovation not only underscores the evolving landscape of legal technology but also highlights the increasing demand for tailored solutions that prioritize security and privacy. As the legal industry continues to adapt to technological advancements, platforms like Thurgood may well reshape how legal professionals approach application development and workflow optimization.

CaseMark, founded in January 2024, operates as an AI-driven legal workflow platform aiming to enhance legal processes. The platform employs generative AI to produce various legal documents such as case summaries and medical chronologies, assisting legal professionals throughout different stages of litigation. Its pay-per-play pricing model allows for accessible integration of AI into legal practices, catering to a diverse array of legal stakeholders, including attorneys and court reporters.
