Envision Energy’s innovative green hydrogen and ammonia project in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia, has emerged as a leading case study in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) recent white paper, “From Blueprint to Reality: A Stronger Business Case for Shared Energy Infrastructure.” Released on January 26, 2026, the report positions the Chifeng initiative as a groundbreaking model in the global energy transition, underscoring Envision’s AI-driven Power System as a pivotal technology that converts intermittent renewable energy into a stable, “green petroleum” equivalent.
During a roundtable discussion at Davos, Lei Zhang, Founder and CEO of Envision, emphasized China’s role as a leader in renewable energy, characterizing it as a “civilization-level” advancement in enhancing global productivity. “Through our AI Power System, we are transforming the Gobi Desert into a ‘Green Oil Field,’ converting wind and solar resources into millions of tons of green ammonia,” Zhang noted. This initiative reframes renewable energy from being a fluctuating resource to a precise industrial tool, offering a scalable model for international green industrialization.
To facilitate seamless international trade, Envision has obtained a comprehensive suite of high-standard certifications, including ISCC EU, ISCC PLUS, and RFNBO compliance. These certifications ensure that its green molecules adhere to the highest environmental and regulatory standards for both European and global markets.
The Chifeng project is notable for being the world’s first large-scale green hydrogen facility powered entirely by green electricity. Unlike traditional operations that depend on a carbon-intensive grid, Envision’s cutting-edge AI Power System intelligently manages the variability of wind and solar energy in real-time. This sophisticated approach guarantees a consistent, high-efficiency energy supply for the chemical synthesis process, significantly reducing the levelized cost of hydrogen.
As the global energy landscape shifts towards sustainability, initiatives like the one in Chifeng highlight the potential of green hydrogen and ammonia to play a crucial role in achieving a cleaner energy future. With the backing of rigorous certifications and advanced technology, Envision is positioned to lead the way in green industrialization, making waves in both domestic and international markets.
The implications of this project extend beyond China’s borders, offering a blueprint that other nations can consider for their energy transition strategies. As the world increasingly prioritizes sustainability and carbon neutrality, Envision’s approach may serve as a model for future endeavors in renewable energy, emphasizing both innovation and regulatory adherence.
