SPAR International Integrates Veesion’s AI Loss-Prevention Tech to Enhance Global Retail Security

SPAR International partners with Veesion to deploy AI-driven loss-prevention tech across its global supermarkets, enhancing security and reducing theft.

SPAR International has announced a partnership with Veesion to implement AI-driven loss-prevention technology across its global network of supermarkets. This collaboration aims to enhance in-store security for SPAR-licensed operators worldwide, providing them with tools to combat theft-related losses effectively.

As part of the agreement, retailers affiliated with SPAR will gain access to Veesion’s advanced video detection system, which integrates seamlessly with existing security measures. The system is designed to issue real-time alerts upon detecting suspicious behavior, thereby helping to mitigate potential theft.

In a statement, Tom Rose, operations head at SPAR International, emphasized the commitment to delivering innovative solutions to their licensed organizations. “At SPAR International, our priority is supporting our licensed country organisations with forward-thinking solutions. Veesion’s technology is a game-changer for retail security,” he remarked, noting its intuitive design and reliability in protecting profits while enhancing the shopper experience.

The collaboration reflects SPAR International’s strategy to bolster in-store security across its global network. Licensed country organizations will benefit from scalable operational tools, positioning them to respond more effectively to security challenges.

Benoit Koenig, CEO and co-founder of Veesion, expressed enthusiasm over the partnership, stating, “We are thrilled to partner with SPAR International to bring our AI-powered solution to a global network of retailers. Together, we are redefining in-store security by making it more intuitive, effective, and accessible.”

The technology provided by Veesion leverages AI to identify and deter shoplifting, supporting overall store-level security operations. The company has established itself in numerous retail outlets worldwide, focusing on reducing losses and enhancing the security framework within stores.

In addition to this technological advancement, SPAR’s various regional organizations have been actively expanding their store networks. In November, SPAR Austria finalized the acquisition of 23 Unimarkt outlets, which includes 11 stores in Styria and two in Salzburg. Meanwhile, SPAR’s Italian division, DESPAR Italia, expanded its grocery presence by opening ten new outlets and refurbishing two existing stores during the same period.

The new openings included five DESPAR Express convenience stores located in Castrovillari, Corigliano-Rossano, Strongoli, and Limbadi Villapiana, demonstrating SPAR’s commitment to growth and adaptation in diverse markets.

This latest collaboration with Veesion not only enhances SPAR’s suite of operational tools but also signifies a broader trend within the retail sector, where the integration of AI technologies is becoming increasingly essential for security and loss prevention. As retailers like SPAR continue to innovate, the landscape of in-store security is poised for significant transformation.
