77% of Teachers Stressed by AI Rollout; Education Perfect Report Reveals Governance Gaps

Education Perfect’s report reveals 77% of Canadian teachers feel overwhelmed by rapid AI adoption, highlighting critical governance gaps in educational technology integration

TORONTO, Feb. 25, 2026 /CNW/ – New research from Education Perfect (EP) reveals that while educators are encouraged to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance classroom efficiency, many are experiencing significant stress in keeping up with the rapid evolution of these technologies. The findings, derived from a survey conducted by Angus Reid Institute among over 300 Canadian teachers, highlight a growing “Paradox of Pace,” where the promise of AI is overshadowed by the challenges of its implementation.

According to the report, 77% of teachers reported feeling overwhelmed by the pace of AI adoption. A substantial 65% expressed concerns that their districts are struggling to adapt quickly enough to provide safe and ethical AI frameworks. Only about 35% of respondents felt their districts were meeting the need for timely, curriculum-aligned AI tools.

Dr. Tom D’Amico, a member of Education Perfect’s Learning Advisory Board, stated, “Educators are being told that AI will transform how they work, yet the majority find the process of keeping up with new tools stressful. This is not a critique of leadership, but an acknowledgment of the unprecedented speed at which technology is evolving. School systems are being asked to govern a landscape that changes daily.”

The report indicates that stress related to AI is not confined to a specific age group, with 71% of teachers aged 18-34 and 76% of those aged 35-54 reporting similar levels of anxiety over AI adoption. The findings suggest a universal challenge among educators, who are calling for more cohesive guidance on the use of AI tools tailored to their teaching environments.

Regional disparities were also noted in the research. While 36% of educators in Ontario felt their districts were adapting quickly enough, that figure dropped to 24% among teachers in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The report underscores a critical governance gap as many teachers await institutional clarity on which AI tools can be safely integrated into their teaching practices.

Amidst these challenges, the survey revealed that 64% of educators believe a unified, AI-enabled platform could significantly alleviate stress and reduce their workload. This suggests a strong desire among teachers for streamlined solutions that could enhance their teaching experience without compromising data integrity.

Education Perfect aims to address this “AI paradox” through its EP Create platform, designed to integrate AI into a secure and curriculum-linked environment. The platform aims to simplify governance for schools while providing personalized feedback for students. Chris Helsby, Country Manager for Canada at Education Perfect, emphasized the need for a “equitable, unified digital infrastructure” to support teachers effectively. “Providing a level of support that consolidates fragmented tools and scrutinizes the efficacy of the current ecosystems is critical to managing workload and protecting the wellbeing and retention of Canada’s education workforce,” he stated.

The findings from the Education Perfect 2026 Canada Teacher Experience Report are based on an online survey conducted from December 9 to 16, 2025. With the ongoing evolution of educational technologies, the implications of these findings extend beyond immediate concerns, highlighting the necessity for schools to adapt in a way that empowers rather than overwhelms educators.

Education Perfect is committed to maximizing student potential through its comprehensive digital learning platform, which supports over 5,000 schools and 1.8 million students globally. The company collaborates with various educational institutions in Canada, including the Toronto District School Board and the District School Board of Niagara, to enhance teaching and learning in today’s classrooms.

The research underscores a pivotal moment for Canada’s educational landscape as the integration of AI continues to unfold, presenting both opportunities and challenges that require thoughtful navigation by educational leaders and policymakers.
