Vertex Group Launches Rs 100 Crore Responsible AI Lab to Boost Ethical AI Development

Vertex Group launches a ₹100 crore Responsible AI Lab in Gurugram to drive ethical AI innovation and support its ₹1,000 crore valuation goal.

Intelligent enterprise solutions firm Vertex Group has unveiled its ‘Responsible AI Lab’ in Gurugram, backed by a commitment of Rs 100 crore for research and development over the next three years. This initiative is part of the company’s strategy to promote ethical and scalable AI-led growth.

The new lab is positioned as the innovation nerve centre of Vertex’s ‘Vertex 2.0’ strategy, which aims to accelerate global expansion and bring the company closer to its goal of reaching a valuation of Rs 1,000 crore as a digital enterprise. According to Vertex, the investment will focus on advanced AI research, product engineering, governance frameworks, and building ecosystem partnerships.

In a climate where AI is increasingly integrated into core business operations, the Responsible AI Lab seeks to establish new benchmarks for trust, accountability, and inclusivity. Enterprises today are facing stricter regulatory scrutiny and growing stakeholder expectations regarding data privacy, bias mitigation, and explainability. The lab will prioritize embedding responsibility into the design of AI systems from the outset.

Vertex will leverage its existing AI capabilities, including its in-house platform, VAssist, to drive innovation. The lab’s research agenda will investigate multi-agent AI architectures, context-aware decision-making systems, and AI governance frameworks, as well as develop domain-specific large language model applications tailored for regulated sectors. It will also focus on creating robust audit trails, model explainability layers, and privacy-preserving data architectures to ensure compliance with varied jurisdictional requirements.

The facility is expected to enhance enterprise automation across multiple sectors, including fintech, agritech, and healthtech, where AI is increasingly woven into service delivery. By blending automation with human oversight, Vertex aims to maintain operational efficiency while upholding accountability and fostering customer trust.

This initiative aligns with Vertex Group’s previous commitment to upskill over 8,000 AI professionals in India by 2028. The talent development strategy aims to cultivate a continuous pipeline of engineers, data scientists, and AI ethicists to facilitate the responsible deployment of AI at scale, thereby reinforcing India’s pivotal role in Vertex’s global delivery model.

Gagan Arora, Founder and President of Vertex Group, emphasized the company’s view of AI as an enabler rather than a replacement for human creativity. “With the Responsible AI Lab at the heart of Vertex 2.0, we are doubling down on our mission to ensure technology uplifts people and enterprises alike. This investment reflects our belief that AI must be developed and deployed with the highest standards of ethics, transparency, and accountability. We are committed to building solutions that empower businesses, safeguard data, and drive sustainable growth worldwide,” he stated.

The announcement comes shortly after Vertex Group appointed Subba Rao as Co-founder and Chief Growth Officer (CGO). Rao, who brings over 25 years of experience in growth strategy and operational transformation from major corporations such as Teleperformance, WNS Global Services, and Wipro, will lead the Vertex 2.0 initiative and spearhead global market expansion.

This move reflects a broader trend in the enterprise technology sector, where the establishment of responsible AI frameworks is rapidly gaining importance in boardrooms. With dedicated infrastructure, structured investment, and a defined governance charter, Vertex Group aims to position itself at the crossroads of AI innovation and ethical enterprise transformation.
