Assaia Launches StandManager to Optimize Airport Gate Allocation by 5%

Assaia launches StandManager, revolutionizing airport operations by optimizing gate allocation to boost effective stand capacity by 5% without new infrastructure.

Assaia, a leader in AI-powered turnaround optimization solutions, has unveiled its latest offering, StandManager, a Resource Management System (RMS) aimed at assisting airports in optimizing aircraft parking and turnaround times. The official launch took place ahead of the Passenger Terminal World 2026 conference in London, marking a significant step in the evolution of airport resource management.

According to Assaia’s CEO, Christiaan Hen, the traditional methods of allocating stands and gates relied heavily on fixed buffer times, scheduled flight data, and manual processes. StandManager introduces a more dynamic approach, utilizing real-time operational data to automate the allocation process, which allows for the calculation of predictive buffers for each flight. This innovation seeks to streamline airport operations amid rising passenger volumes and increasing pressure on existing infrastructure.

StandManager addresses the inefficiencies in current airport stand planning by automatically reallocating gates when it detects changes in flight schedules, such as early or late arrivals. This flexibility enables airports to maximize their resources more effectively. Hen points out that by adopting dynamic predictive buffers instead of static ones, airports can reduce idle time between aircraft arrivals and potentially boost effective stand capacity by up to 5%, all without necessitating new infrastructure developments.

The technology complements Assaia’s existing ApronAI solution, which uses computer vision to monitor aircraft turnarounds and predict key milestones like off-block times. Together, these systems provide a holistic view of real-time turnaround performance, towing status, and delay predictions, integrating them into stand allocation decisions. This connection is vital as airports face the dual challenges of growing traffic and limited flexibility due to constrained infrastructures.

Bram Kok, Managing Director of Transformers Group, which partnered with Assaia to develop StandManager, highlighted the limitations of existing static rules governing stand planning. He noted that when delays occur, airport teams often find themselves reacting under pressure, lacking comprehensive visibility into real-time conditions and their implications. The combination of Assaia’s AI technology and Transformers Group’s open-architecture RMS capabilities aims to facilitate data-driven decision-making, allowing for quicker responses to operational changes.

StandManager’s design emphasizes adaptability, continuously processing live operational data to enhance stand and gate allocation as conditions evolve. Assaia aims to extend its reach beyond mere turnaround visibility, moving towards broader airport resource optimization by directly linking real-time apron performance with stand and asset allocation. This approach reflects a strategic response to the forecasted doubling of global passenger growth by 2053, as airports grapple with increasing capacity pressures.

As the aviation industry continues to evolve, tools like StandManager could play a crucial role in alleviating operational bottlenecks. By leveraging AI and data analytics, airports may not only improve efficiency but also enhance passenger experiences, ensuring timely and sustainable air travel. Assaia’s commitment to refining airport operations underscores the potential for technology to reshape the aviation landscape in the years to come.
