Quest Software Launches AI-Powered Security Management Platform to Combat Identity Threats

Quest Software unveils its AI-powered Security Management Platform, enhancing identity threat response and recovery speeds by 90% for Microsoft environments.

AUSTIN, Texas, April 14, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Quest Software has announced the launch of the Quest Security Management Platform, claiming it to be the first unified, AI-powered platform integrating Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR) with secure migration capabilities for Microsoft environments. This new offering is designed to provide organizations with enhanced visibility into non-human identities and facilitate always-ready disaster recovery.

The Quest Security Management Platform combines identity threat detection, recovery, and secure migration into a single solution, aimed at addressing evolving cybersecurity challenges. As the threat landscape grows increasingly complex, driven by AI adoption and the expansion of hybrid infrastructures, organizations face heightened risks from both human and non-human identities. Quest’s research indicates that non-human identities outnumber human ones by an estimated 82:1, and over 75 percent of global organizations do not test their identity recovery capabilities frequently enough, putting them at significant risk for costly downtimes following attacks.

“AI fundamentally threatens the identity landscape at a level never before seen, and one thing is clear – identity security must include rapid recovery, not just detection and response,” said Michael Laudon, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Quest Software. He emphasized that the Quest Security Management Platform offers solutions tailored to the actual risks organizations face, particularly during high-stakes changes like migrations and modernization efforts.

The platform encompasses two key components: Quest Identity Defense and Quest Identity Recovery. Quest Identity Defense serves as an AI-driven security solution that works with both Active Directory and Entra ID to continuously monitor and manage identity risks while blocking unauthorized changes. This capability enhances visibility across both human and non-human identities, streamlining threat investigation and remediation processes.

On the other hand, Quest Identity Recovery promises rapid restoration of identity services, boasting recovery speeds up to 90 percent faster following ransomware incidents. It introduces Standby Active Directory Forest provisioning, which automates the setup of recovery environments, further enhancing the platform’s disaster recovery capabilities.

Additionally, the platform features On Demand Migration, certified for Microsoft 365, which facilitates secure tenant-to-tenant migrations across services like Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams, as well as Active Directory and Entra ID. This comprehensive solution not only simplifies migration processes but also prioritizes security during these critical business transitions.

By integrating detection, response, recovery, and modernization into one platform, Quest aligns with guidelines from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework 2.0 and recommendations from Gartner. This unified approach aims to eliminate the reliance on disparate tools, offering organizations a streamlined path to manage identity risk in the contemporary threat landscape.

Quest Software’s extensive experience in modernizing Microsoft environments underpins the capabilities of the new platform. The company has a history of moving over 200 petabytes of data and has achieved Microsoft 365 Certification for its migration solutions. According to Quest, the platform can automate recovery processes significantly faster than traditional methods, improving mean time to response by 44 percent and potentially saving organizations millions in downtime costs. Gartner has recognized Quest as an example vendor in multiple categories in its latest report on Active Directory management.

As organizations continue to navigate a rapidly shifting digital landscape, the Quest Security Management Platform aims to provide a more resilient approach to identity security, maximizing operational continuity in the face of increasingly sophisticated cyber threats. The offering reflects an urgent need for businesses to evolve their strategies for managing identity risks effectively in a world where AI-driven attacks are becoming the norm.

At AIPressa, my work focuses on exploring the paradox of AI in cybersecurity: it's both our best defense and our greatest threat. I've closely followed how AI systems detect vulnerabilities in milliseconds while attackers simultaneously use them to create increasingly sophisticated malware. My approach: explaining technical complexities in an accessible way without losing the urgency of the topic. When I'm not researching the latest AI-driven threats, I'm probably testing security tools or reading about the next attack vector keeping CISOs awake at night.
