The update enhances capabilities in software engineering, long-running tasks, and high-resolution vision, while also introducing new controls for safer deployment.

Positioned as an improvement over Opus 4.6, Opus 4.7 emphasizes better instruction adherence, improved reasoning for extended workflows, and the ability to verify outputs before results are finalized. Users can access the model on claude.ai, the Claude API, Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry, with pricing remaining stable.

Anthropic frames Opus 4.7 as a critical advancement for high-stakes applications, particularly in software engineering and agent-based workflows. Designed to manage complex, multi-step tasks with greater consistency, the model reduces the necessity for close supervision. It interprets instructions more literally than its predecessors, prompting users to refine prompts originally designed for earlier iterations.
