SkyBiometry, a subsidiary of biometric technology firm Neurotechnology, has launched an AI factory alongside a comprehensive suite of infrastructure products. These offerings, which include AI-ready hardware infrastructure, private AI clouds, and orchestration and deployment capabilities for AI models, are designed to assist organizations in developing large language models (LLMs), generative AI applications, and computer vision systems. This initiative leverages Neurotechnology’s expertise in high-performance computing.
The announcement coincides with impending proposals from the European Union for the EU Cloud and AI Development Act (CADA), aimed at bolstering Europe’s cloud computing and AI capacities. According to CEO Mantas Kundrotas, SkyBiometry seeks to eliminate infrastructure bottlenecks that stifle innovation by providing specialized, high-performance environments.
SkyBiometry has already implemented its products across various sectors, including legal services, healthcare, and telecommunications. In the legal domain, the company has developed custom LLM models and vector search tools specifically for biometrics, while in healthcare, it has deployed on-premises automation solutions for patient scheduling that ensure medical data remains secure on-site. For its telecommunications clients, SkyBiometry has created automated voice call analysis tools that utilize keyword-based filtering.
“By providing end-to-end services, from initial hardware design to the operation of secure private clouds and the delivery of fully production-ready systems, we enable our clients to focus on their core AI development while we handle the complexity of the underlying technology stack,” said Kundrotas.
The company’s infrastructure utilizes current-generation GPUs and low-latency networking, enhancing the performance of AI applications. The private cloud service offers bare-metal hosting with dedicated computational resources and ensures data sovereignty. Furthermore, AI models can be deployed through managed Kubernetes and enhanced with NVMe storage.
Baltic nation Lithuania is home to Neurotechnology, which develops algorithms and software based on deep neural networks for various applications, including biometric identification, natural language processing (NLP), and computer vision. SkyBiometry was established as a spin-off in 2012 to provide biometric technology as a service, initially offering a cloud-based facial recognition API.
Neurotechnology later addressed challenges related to GPU idle time caused by data bottlenecks, culminating in the development of a specialized AI stack. The effectiveness of this solution is illustrated in a case study demonstrating the capabilities of the AI Factory cluster, a high-performance computing environment constructed specifically for AI development.
As the landscape of AI continues to evolve, SkyBiometry’s initiatives signify a commitment to facilitating advanced technological solutions that can drive innovation across sectors.
