Honeywell has unveiled two new artificial intelligence (AI) innovations aimed at enhancing efficiency and performance for frontline workers in the retail and logistics sectors. This announcement comes as businesses increasingly turn to technology to optimize operations and improve customer service. The latest solutions from Honeywell include new capabilities for its AI assistant developed for mobile computing platforms, alongside the introduction of the CT70 handheld computer, which is designed to facilitate inventory tracking and returns management.

According to David Barker, president of Honeywell Productivity Solutions and Services, these solutions have been developed with the needs of the workforce in mind. “The convergence of our next-generation mobile computers with machine vision and agentic AI delivers productivity and effectiveness for our customers and their employees across retail, transportation, warehousing, and other complex industries,” Barker stated, highlighting the importance of these innovations in contemporary labor environments.

The newly enhanced AI assistant is positioned as a digital resource for the modern labor force, boasting features that assist workers in their daily tasks. One notable capability is inventory search, which allows employees to quickly locate items in stock or suggest alternatives when a desired item is unavailable. This feature not only saves time but also ensures that customers receive accurate information, enhancing their overall shopping experience.

Another significant function is product identification, which utilizes natural language processing and camera input to rapidly identify products, parts, or faults. This capability is designed to decrease errors, expedite customer service, and empower associates to maintain equipment more effectively. For instance, baggage handlers using Honeywell’s AI assistant can take photographs of passengers’ luggage with their handheld devices. Utilizing machine vision, the AI assistant can capture attributes such as color and shape, aiding staff in identifying lost bags and minimizing wait times for travelers.

The newly introduced Honeywell CT70 mobile computer complements these AI capabilities. This rugged device provides frontline workers with real-time access to critical data, rapid barcode scanning, and on-screen contactless payment features. Powered by the Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-6690 processor, the 5G CT70 includes advanced technologies such as an integrated AI processor, Wi-Fi 7 support, and plans for RAIN RFID integration in early 2026. These advancements are designed to provide businesses with a more accurate and up-to-date view of their inventory.

Built on the Mobility Edge platform, the CT70 is compatible with a variety of Honeywell software solutions as well as those from independent software vendors. Notable compatible solutions include the Honeywell Operational Intelligence suite and SwiftDecode, which aim to enhance operational efficiency across different industries.

Wassim Chourbaji, Senior Vice President and President of Qualcomm MEA, expressed optimism regarding the CT70’s potential impact, stating, “Honeywell’s latest mobile computing solution powered by the Dragonwing Q-6690, the world’s first enterprise mobile processor with fully integrated RFID capability, will further accelerate productivity for the industries we serve, empower businesses with more reliable connectivity, and enable edge AI-based use cases and rapid data access.”
