The second edition of the World Summit AI–Qatar 2025 officially opened in Doha on Tuesday, marking another major step in Qatar’s rapidly expanding role in global artificial intelligence dialogue. Organised by Inspired Minds in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), the summit is being held from December 9 to 10 under the theme “Building the Future of AI Together.” The event has drawn an exceptional assembly of senior government officials, global technology leaders, AI researchers, academics, industry experts, and entrepreneurs working at the forefront of advanced digital innovation.
In the opening ceremony, Minister of Communications and Information Technology HE Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to transforming itself into a diversified, knowledge-driven digital economy. He emphasised that artificial intelligence is no longer a mere technological option but a strategic necessity that will shape the nation’s economic trajectory, social development, and government services.
He noted that hosting the World Summit AI for the second consecutive time reflects Qatar’s ambition to strengthen global partnerships and accelerate the adoption of AI solutions across government entities, fully aligned with the Digital Agenda 2030 and the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Reflecting the national momentum behind Qatar’s digital transformation, Abdulla Al Misnad, Head of the Executive Office of HE the Prime Minister and Chairman of Qai, emphasised the country’s evolution toward advanced, technology-driven sectors. He said, “Qatar is undergoing a rapid transformation toward a more diverse and resilient economy, with artificial intelligence now playing a central role in this evolution. The World Summit AI–Qatar 2025 reflects the country’s progress in building an integrated ecosystem that connects policy, digital infrastructure, national talent development, and private-sector collaboration. The GovAI Program stands as a practical model for how advanced technologies can enhance public services and streamline government operations.”
From the organiser’s perspective, CEO and Founder of Inspired Minds Sarah Porter highlighted the strategic importance of Doha in the global AI landscape. She said, “We are delighted to return to Doha for the second edition of the World Summit AI in partnership with MCIT. Qatar has rapidly established itself as a regional and global hub for meaningful dialogue on the future of artificial intelligence, bringing together policymakers, entrepreneurs, and researchers from East and West. We are proud to deepen this partnership and to showcase pioneering national initiatives and success stories emerging from Qatar.”
The launch of the summit featured several significant developments highlighting Qatar’s continued investment in AI infrastructure, talent, and innovation. One of the key announcements was the unveiling of Fanar 2.0, an upgraded Arabic-language artificial intelligence platform developed by the Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. The platform represents a major advance in Arabic natural language processing and reinforces Qatar’s commitment to producing regionally relevant AI tools that support both government and private-sector digital transformation.
The opening also saw the signing of new agreements under the national GovAI Program, an initiative aimed at integrating artificial intelligence into government operations. These agreements are designed to enhance service quality, increase efficiency, and promote the development of intelligent digital solutions across ministries and public institutions. By expanding collaborations between the public sector, research institutions, and industry partners, the program aims to accelerate Qatar’s transition into an AI-powered government.
Following the launch, the summit unfolded with a rich programme of keynote speeches, panel discussions, technical sessions, and demonstrations. Experts addressed critical themes such as frontier AI, next-generation computing, responsible and transparent AI systems, data governance, and sector-specific innovations in fields including healthcare, energy, finance, and public services. Deep-tech sessions offered researchers and engineers a platform to present cutting-edge work, while a dedicated startup showcase connected emerging innovators with global investors and industry leaders.
From the moment it commenced, the World Summit AI–Qatar 2025 made clear its intention to serve as a global meeting point for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and strategic planning. With its strong government participation, international partnerships, and focus on responsible and scalable AI, the summit underscores Qatar’s growing influence in shaping regional and global AI policy and innovation.
