Stability AI Launches Stable Audio 2.0: Generate 3-Minute Tracks with New Features

Stability AI launches Stable Audio 2.0, allowing users to generate high-quality, coherent 3-minute tracks with new audio-to-audio features and flexible subscriptions.

Stability AI has unveiled an upgraded version of its text-to-music AI tool, Stable Audio 2.0, allowing users to generate longer audio content of up to three minutes. This new release, announced recently, expands on its predecessor, Stable Audio 1.0, which was limited to 90 seconds of audio generation.

This latest iteration introduces several features aimed at enhancing user experience. With Stable Audio 2.0, users can now create high-quality, full tracks that maintain a “coherent musical structure,” all generated from text prompts at 44.1 kHz stereo. The update also adds audio-to-audio capabilities, enabling users to transform uploaded audio samples using natural language prompts, a significant evolution in its functionality.

In an effort to provide artists and musicians with more creative options, Stability AI has expanded the sound-effect generation within the stable audio suite. This enhancement is designed to offer users greater flexibility and control over their audio projects. The underlying model for Stable Audio 2.0 was trained exclusively on a licensed dataset sourced from the AudioSparx music library. To ensure fair compensation for creators, Stability AI has committed to honoring opt-out requests from musicians and artists whose works may be included in the dataset.

Alongside the free tier of Stable Audio 2.0, the company is also rolling out premium subscriptions that offer additional benefits, such as access to creator licenses and higher monthly limits for track generation. This dual-tier system aims to cater to a wide range of users, from casual creators to professional artists seeking more extensive resources for their projects.

The advancements in audio generation technology reflect the broader trends within the artificial intelligence landscape, where tools are increasingly enabling users to produce original content with minimal technical expertise. As the capabilities of AI tools expand, the potential for creative industries grows, raising questions about the future of music production, copyright issues, and the role of human creators in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

As Stable Audio 2.0 begins to attract attention, it highlights the ongoing efforts by Stability AI to position itself as a leader in the AI audio generation market. The company’s commitment to ethical practices and user-centered features may set a new standard in an industry grappling with the implications of AI-generated content.
