CGI and OpenAI Launch Global AI Alliance to Enhance Enterprise Transformation

CGI partners with OpenAI to enhance enterprise AI deployment, leveraging ChatGPT Enterprise for 94,000 consultants to drive transformative business outcomes.

MONTRÉAL, Jan. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ – CGI (NYSE: GIB) (TSX: GIB.A), a prominent independent IT and business consulting services firm, has announced a global go-to-market alliance with OpenAI. This partnership aims to assist clients in the secure and responsible deployment of advanced AI capabilities at enterprise scale, ultimately driving transformative business outcomes.

Dave Henderson, Chief Technology Officer at CGI, emphasized the timing of this collaboration amid the growing adoption of AI across various industries. “Building on our successful, multi-year pilot program in the UK, we are excited to globalize OpenAI as one of our key AI partners,” he stated. The agreement is set to enhance CGI’s global capabilities, enabling clients to realize business value while mitigating operational, data, and governance risks.

The collaboration will focus on improving enterprise deployment patterns, security practices, and AI adoption models, drawing insights from CGI’s extensive experience in operating AI at scale. CGI plans to integrate OpenAI’s training resources into its existing AI literacy program, which aims to elevate advanced AI fluency among its teams. This initiative will cover everything from practical day-to-day uses to advanced prompt engineering and AI-custom roles, ensuring that clients benefit from teams equipped to navigate complex, regulated environments.

Under the new agreement, CGI will also expand its utilization of OpenAI’s ChatGPT Enterprise platform, providing access to tens of thousands of its consultants and experts. This move is part of CGI’s ‘Client Zero’ strategy, which has been operational for several years and has resulted in a robust, actionable model that clients can confidently adopt. “Being Client Zero means we learn the hard lessons first, so our clients don’t have to,” remarked Tara McGeehan, President of CGI’s UK & Australia Operations. She highlighted that through their experience in embedding generative AI across their operations, CGI can guide clients in deploying AI solutions more quickly and securely, with measurable commercial outcomes.

Nicolai Skabo, Head of OpenAI’s EMEA Enterprise Sales, noted that collaboration with CGI further facilitates the transition of enterprise AI from concept to practical application. “By scaling ChatGPT Enterprise across CGI’s team and developing a deeper collaboration, we’re combining platform capability with delivery expertise to help organizations transform how work gets done securely, responsibly, and with real business impact,” he said.

CGI employs its Responsible Use of AI Framework to apply ChatGPT Enterprise, ensuring that generative AI solutions adhere to stringent security, privacy, and ethical standards. This governance, overseen by CGI’s global AI Executive Steering Committee, aims to instill client confidence in the safe and compliant deployment of AI solutions.

CGI’s global alliance strategy features partnerships with over 150 technology companies, allowing its consultants and professionals the flexibility to choose optimal solutions tailored to each client’s unique technology stack and business requirements, including considerations for digital sovereignty. This strategy positions CGI as a versatile player in the rapidly evolving technology landscape.

Founded in 1976, CGI is one of the largest independent IT and business consulting firms globally, with a workforce of 94,000 consultants and professionals. The company offers a comprehensive portfolio, spanning strategic IT and business consulting, systems integration, managed IT and business process services, and intellectual property solutions. In its Fiscal 2025 report, CGI reported revenue of CA$15.91 billion, with shares listed on the TSX (GIB.A) and the NYSE (GIB). As AI continues to shape the business landscape, CGI’s strategic partnership with OpenAI positions it to play a significant role in the integration of advanced AI solutions across industries.
