People in their late 30s are the most active users of artificial intelligence (AI) in their work, while those in their late 20s engage with AI broadly in their everyday lives, according to a survey released on Monday. The findings come from a study conducted by the digital workspace company Notion in collaboration with Daehak Naeil, which surveyed 480 Korean employees and freelancers.
The survey revealed that 61.5 percent of Korean workers utilize AI for professional tasks, surpassing the 46.7 percent who use AI for daily activities, alongside 33.5 percent for studying and self-development, and 33.1 percent for hobbies and leisure. Among those who apply AI at work, common uses include searching for data (25 percent), summarizing information (15.4 percent), paraphrasing writing (13.5 percent), writing reports (9.8 percent), and translating (9.8 percent). Notably, 60 percent of respondents reported that AI saves time on repetitive tasks, allowing them to focus more on creative endeavors.
Workers aged between 35 and 39, identified as a key demographic in corporate environments, showed the highest usage of AI at 71.67 percent in their professional activities. In contrast, younger individuals aged 25 to 29 reported the most extensive application of AI in their daily lives, leveraging it for assistance with tasks, casual conversation, and psychological consultations.
Despite the positive perceptions surrounding AI, the survey highlighted some concerns. While 89 percent of participants expressed optimism about AI’s potential to enhance workplace dynamics, 41.6 percent questioned the reliability of AI-generated output. Additionally, 30.1 percent raised security issues, and 23.7 percent noted that the consistency of AI outcomes was insufficient for widespread workplace adoption.
Park Dae-sung, general manager of Notion Korea, emphasized that the integration of AI into daily work routines signifies a transformative shift. “The future of work is already here in Korea, where AI takes care of simple, repetitive work and people concentrate on strategy, creativity, and collaboration,” he stated. Park further elaborated on Notion’s goals, asserting that the company aims to foster a collaborative environment through its upcoming Custom Agent feature.
The Custom Agent AI is set to be introduced later this month, reinforcing Notion’s commitment to enhance the productivity of Korean workers through innovative tools. As Korean professionals increasingly embrace AI, the company seeks to invest further in the local market to support this transition.
This survey sheds light on the evolving relationship between humans and AI, illustrating not only the demographic differences in usage but also the broader implications for workplace efficiency and trust in technological tools. As AI continues to integrate more deeply into everyday tasks, understanding these dynamics will be crucial for shaping future workplace strategies.
