Geniatech Launches Scalable Edge AI Platform with NXP i.MX 8M Plus for Rapid Deployment

Geniatech unveils a new scalable edge AI platform based on the NXP i.MX 8M Plus, expediting industrial AI deployment with up to 2.3 TOPS performance and seamless transition from prototype to production.

Geniatech expands its edge AI portfolio with i.MX 8M Plus-based SoM, SBC, and edge systems, delivering a unified, scalable platform that streamlines development, reduces integration complexity, and accelerates deployment from prototype to production across diverse industrial AI and IoT applications.

Shenzhen-based Geniatech, a prominent player in embedded and edge AI solutions, announced on March 31, 2026, the launch of a new series of products using the NXP i.MX 8M Plus processor. This expansion aims to provide a comprehensive, scalable platform that encompasses system-on-modules (SoMs), single board computers (SBCs), and ready-to-deploy edge AI systems. The development is designed to expedite the transition from prototypes to production phases in various industrial AI and IoT applications.

The newly introduced products include the SOM-iMX8MP-SMARC module, the DB820P SMARC development board, and the APC880 edge AI system. These platforms are built on a unified architecture, facilitating efficient movement from prototyping to production without necessitating hardware redesign or software reworking. This streamlined approach is particularly beneficial for engineering teams navigating the complexities of AI development.

As AI adoption intensifies across various sectors such as machine vision, robotics, and intelligent IoT, development teams frequently encounter challenges in transitioning from proof-of-concept to full deployment. Geniatech’s reusable platform strategy, centered on the i.MX 8M Plus, is designed to address these issues by offering consistent performance, software compatibility, and flexible hardware scalability across multiple product form factors.

Among the standout offerings, the APC880 Edge AI System is a fanless, industrial-grade edge computer crafted for real-time AI inference and complex workloads, including integrations with large language models (LLMs) at the edge. Meanwhile, the DB820P SBC is a compact, SMARC-based single board computer that features an integrated 2.3 TOPS neural processing unit (NPU) and a wide array of input/output options, facilitating rapid prototyping and dependable deployment. The SOM-iMX8MP-SMARC serves as a production-ready module, offering long lifecycle support and customizable features for embedded product design.

Together, these solutions offer a seamless progression from evaluation to commercialization, thereby reducing development risks and shortening product cycles. This integrated approach enables developers to leverage reference designs, evaluation kits, and technical consulting. Such resources empower clients to make informed decisions early in their design processes, accelerating deployment across applications like smart retail, industrial automation, robotics, and secure IoT gateways.

In addition to the i.MX 8M Plus series, Geniatech maintains its commitment to high-performance edge AI applications through a broader portfolio, which includes platforms based on the Rockchip RK3588 and modular AI acceleration solutions. The i.MX 8M Plus platform itself features a quad-core Arm Cortex-A53 processor, a real-time Cortex-M7, and a 2.3 TOPS NPU, along with advanced multimedia capabilities via an integrated image signal processor (ISP). It is built to thrive in industrial environments, supporting a variety of interfaces such as HDMI, MIPI, LVDS, Gigabit Ethernet, USB, CAN, and RS232/485, ensuring adaptability across diverse deployment scenarios.

For more computationally intensive workloads, Geniatech offers RK3588-based platforms that deliver up to 6 TOPS NPU performance and advanced multimedia processing. Additionally, the company provides AI accelerator modules such as AIM-H8 and AIM-M2, powered by dedicated NPUs, which deliver up to 40 TOPS of AI performance and are compatible with mainstream frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, and ONNX.

“Our latest portfolio expansion reflects Geniatech’s commitment to enabling scalable and practical edge AI,” stated a company spokesperson. “By providing a unified platform across multiple product formats, we help customers bridge the gap between development and deployment, unlocking faster innovation in real-world AI applications.”

Founded as a global leader in embedded computing and edge AI solutions, Geniatech is dedicated to offering a broad array of system-on-modules, single board computers, and industrial edge systems. With a focus on innovation, scalability, and long-term reliability, Geniatech aims to empower businesses to build and deploy intelligent systems across various industries, including industrial automation, smart retail, transportation, and IoT.
