Galaxy Digital Announces $15B Investment in Helios AI Data Center, Aims for $100B Portfolio

Galaxy Digital unveils its $15B Helios AI data center in Texas, aiming to expand its digital infrastructure portfolio to over $100B amid soaring demand for computing power

Galaxy Digital has marked a significant milestone in its journey by unveiling its flagship data center, Helios, in its first annual report since listing on the Nasdaq. The facility, located in West Texas, represents an investment exceeding $15 billion, positioning it as a valuable asset with sustainable, high-return attributes for shareholders. Helios is designed to develop 1.6 gigawatts of capacity, aimed at supporting the next generation of AI and high-performance computing.

Of the total capacity, the first 800 megawatts have been leased to CoreWeave, a prominent player in the AI cloud sector, translating to more than $7.5 billion in capital investment alone. When combined with an additional 830 megawatts approved under a build-to-suit model, Helios is expected to account for significantly more than $15 billion in long-term digital infrastructure investment.

Galaxy Digital’s ambitions extend beyond Helios, as it aims to build and acquire additional sites to create a multi-hundred-billion-dollar portfolio of digital infrastructure assets. This strategy will diversify across various geographies, tenants, and technologies. “Demand for compute is not a cycle. It is a structural condition that will define the next decade. We intend to be one of the companies that meet it,” stated Galaxy CEO Mike Novogratz in the annual report.

In a strategic move to enhance its focus, Galaxy Digital recently exited the Toronto Stock Exchange to concentrate on its Nasdaq listing, where it conducts the majority of its average daily trading volume. Novogratz emphasized the transition from narrative-driven investments to infrastructure-oriented strategies. He remarked that while digital assets have long been fueled by compelling stories, it is infrastructure that will ultimately support the economy.

The future digital economy is set to rely on regulated frameworks, trusted custody solutions, and tokenization platforms that aim to turn theoretical concepts into practical applications. This shift underscores Galaxy’s commitment to building a robust foundation for the evolving digital landscape.

As part of Galaxy’s financial landscape, the stock GLXY is currently experiencing a technical breakout. Since peaking near $45 in November 2025, the stock has formed a large symmetrical triangle pattern. The convergence of the descending upper trendline and rising lower trendline suggests an imminent breakout, with Thursday’s trading session indicating bullish momentum. The SAR indicator has flipped below the price at $16.52, confirming this upward trend, while the stock has reclaimed the 20 EMA at $19.84.

However, resistance remains between $21.65 and $24.11, which will be a critical test for the sustainability of this breakout. If Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) holds above $71,000, GLXY could potentially challenge the $24-$25 range soon. The interplay between cryptocurrency market dynamics and Galaxy’s strategic initiatives could further influence the company’s trajectory.

In conclusion, with its ambitious plans for Helios and beyond, Galaxy Digital is poised to play a pivotal role in the burgeoning AI and digital infrastructure sectors. As the demand for advanced computing capabilities continues to escalate, the company’s investments and strategic focus on infrastructure may well define its success in a rapidly evolving landscape.
