DeepSeek Launches V4 Model, Surpassing Claude Opus 4.6 with Superior Efficiency

DeepSeek’s DeepSeek-V4 model, boasting 1.6 trillion parameters, outperforms Claude Opus 4.6, achieving top benchmarks with 1/3.7th the processing time.

DeepSeek, a Chinese artificial intelligence company, unveiled its latest AI model, DeepSeek-V4, on April 24, 2026. The release includes two distinct versions: DeepSeek-V4-Pro and DeepSeek-V4-Flash. Notably, DeepSeek-V4-Pro has outperformed the widely recognized Claude Opus 4.6 in various benchmarks, establishing a new standard in AI performance.

Both versions of DeepSeek-V4 are MoE (Mixture of Experts) models that have been trained on a staggering 32 trillion tokens of data. DeepSeek-V4-Pro features a total of 1.6 trillion parameters with 49 billion of those being active, while DeepSeek-V4-Flash has 284 billion parameters, with 13 billion active. Each model boasts an impressive maximum context length of 1 million tokens, enabling them to process extensive data inputs effectively.

The benchmark scores for ‘DeepSeek-V4-Pro-Max’, the highest inference mode of DeepSeek-V4-Pro, reveal its superiority over other leading models, such as ‘Claude-Opus-4.6-Max’, ‘GPT-5.4-xHigh’, and ‘Gemini-3.1-Pro-High’. In multiple tests, DeepSeek-V4-Pro-Max claimed the top position, particularly in the HLE and Codeforces categories, setting a new benchmark in AI inference capabilities.

In addition to its performance, the efficiency of DeepSeek-V4 models is noteworthy. DeepSeek-V4-Pro can execute tasks in just 1/3.7th of the computational time required by its predecessor, DeepSeek-V3.2, while DeepSeek-V4-Flash significantly reduces processing time to 1/9.8th that of DeepSeek-V3.2. This leap in efficiency not only enhances performance but also optimizes resource allocation, making the models more accessible for a variety of applications.

Furthermore, the models are designed with a low KV cache capacity, which bolsters their efficiency when handling lengthy tasks. This aspect is particularly beneficial for developers and businesses seeking to utilize AI for complex problem-solving and data analysis, as it minimizes latency and maximizes output.

DeepSeek-V4-Pro and DeepSeek-V4-Flash are available on Hugging Face, a popular platform for AI development, under the MIT License. This opens the door for broader adoption among developers, researchers, and organizations looking to integrate advanced AI capabilities into their systems.

The release of DeepSeek-V4 not only underscores the rapid advancements being made in AI but also highlights the growing competition in the sector. With its impressive metrics and efficiency gains, DeepSeek is positioning itself as a formidable player in the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence. As industries increasingly turn to AI for innovative solutions, the implications of such advancements will likely resonate across various sectors, redefining how organizations approach intelligence and automation in their operations.
