Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, emphasized India’s potential to lead the world in Artificial Intelligence during a speech on Saturday at the launch of the book More From Less For More: Innovation’s Holy Grail. Ambani argued that India can offer a new model of development that marries intelligence with empathy and prosperity with purpose, reflecting on the country’s vast pool of young talent and innovation.
Speaking at the event, Ambani noted that the “new India” is vibrant with “young dreamers” whose aspirations are rapidly materializing. He highlighted that India could evolve into a deep tech superpower by fostering stronger connections between the scientific community and the business sector. This collaborative approach, he asserted, is essential for translating visionary ideas into advanced technologies that can enhance the quality of life for millions.
A key aspect of Ambani’s philosophy is the concept of “more from less for more,” which advocates for leveraging cutting-edge technology alongside limited natural and financial resources to benefit a wider population. He pointed out that this principle has guided the work of eminent scientist Raghunath Mashelkar for over three decades, enabling India to deliver high-quality products that significantly improve everyday lives.
Ambani underscored India’s achievements in the space sector as a testament to this mindset, citing that the country successfully launched a rocket to Mars for less than the budget of a typical Hollywood film. He also spoke about how this innovative spirit led to the creation of Jio, which dramatically reduced data costs and helped propel India into the global digital mainstream, laying the groundwork for the nation to embrace the era of artificial intelligence.
As part of this transformative vision, Ambani stressed the importance of integrating technology with human values. He stated, “Technology must be paired with human feelings to be truly effective,” emphasizing the role of clean energy in addressing India’s long-standing challenges. He expressed optimism about India’s capacity to provide abundant clean energy, stating, “We will show the way as to how we can make green and clean energy available in abundance and in an affordable way.” This initiative, he believes, will not only serve India but also set a precedent for the rest of the world.

He remarked, “By combining intelligence with empathy, prosperity with purpose, India can present a new model of development to the rest of the world.” This vision echoes the founding principles of Reliance, laid down by his father, Dhirubhai Ambani, who aimed to enhance the quality of life for Indians.
During the event, Ambani reflected on a personal lesson he learned from Mashelkar: “Technology without compassion is just machinery.” This statement encapsulates his belief that technology infused with compassion becomes a powerful social movement capable of driving change.
