Libya and India Launch Year-Long Training Program in Quantum Computing and AI

Libya, in partnership with India’s ITEC, launches a year-long training program to upskill engineers in quantum computing and AI, boosting digital sovereignty.

The General Authority for Communications and Informatics in Tripoli has launched an intensive training programme designed to enhance the skills of Libyan engineers and technicians in advanced technological fields. This initiative, announced in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Indian Embassy, is part of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme and aims to align with the objectives of the National Strategy for the Communications and Informatics Sector 2023-2027.

Initiated in January 2026, the year-long programme seeks to qualify participants in critical areas such as quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies. The training will take place in specialized technical centers in India, where participants will engage in intensive practical training, applied workshops, and advanced lectures under the guidance of industry experts.

The Authority emphasized that this initiative is a concrete step towards building national capacity and localizing advanced technologies, as outlined in the National Strategy. By focusing on cutting-edge technological competencies, the training aims to bolster Libya’s digital sovereignty and facilitate the country’s technological transformation.

In its announcement, the Authority articulated that the programme represents a practical pathway to transferring advanced knowledge and fostering specialized expertise within Libya. This effort is expected to significantly contribute to the nation’s digital innovation landscape and enhance its overall technical readiness, aligning with broader strategic objectives.

The collaboration with the Indian Embassy underscores the importance of international partnerships in fostering knowledge exchange and capacity building. Participants will benefit from India’s expertise in technology and innovation, which has been recognized globally. The programme highlights Libya’s commitment to embracing advanced technologies as a cornerstone for future development.

As the training programme unfolds, its success will be measured by the capabilities that participants acquire and how effectively these skills translate into real-world applications within Libya. This initiative not only aims to skill the workforce but also to lay the groundwork for a sustainable technological ecosystem that can adapt to the rapid pace of global digital advancements.

Ultimately, the programme’s contribution to national technical readiness and innovation could prove vital for Libya’s economic growth and development in an increasingly digital world. By equipping its engineers and technicians with advanced skills, Libya aims to position itself competitively in the global technology landscape, paving the way for future advancements and digital sovereignty.
